I still remember how happy I was that gettlegut was not the GM once he picked Jones, that was a firing pick and well..... If not for the raiders drafting Clelin Ferrell, it was the biggest draft day mistake in the last 20 some years.

I feel like the Mitch over Mahomes pick helped take some of the bad press off the Jones pick.  Plus I'm trying to remember who was the next QB taken in the Jones draft?  Drew Lock?

There's plenty of really bad picks in the top ten going back to y2k.

Looks like he ran out of real estate.  He had 5 total TDs. As good as we have ever seen in Carolina? Looks like he is the only QB in our history with 3 passing and 2 rushing TDs and he tied a single game record of 5 TDs in one game with Cam and Beurlein.  Throw in his 73.4% completions and zero turnovers, literally the ONLY thing you could argue against statistically is total yardage which was only 275.  You may not agree with that statement (not 100% sure I do), but it's really not THAT wild...

last game of the season against a team that had nothing to play for and the defense clearly threw in the towel.  There is absolutely no way one can argue that was the most impressive qb performance for a panther qb.  That is simply insane

I get it's subjective and I said "PFF rated him as" one of the top deep ball passers during that time, which is an accurate statement.  They are still a group of professionals that look at film and data in order to make their judgements/ratings.  These people whose data has been incorporated into a lot of teams' staffs view Bryce's deep throws as some of the best in the league during that stretch.  That tells me that he can probably throw a deep pass vs the Huddle's version of he is small and didn't do it his rookie year so he must not be able to.  That and literally seeing him do it just makes me feel he is more than capable of doing so.

Do you think PFF is skewing their opinion to prop up a QB in a bottom tier franchise?  It's just another group's opinion and I feel is pretty respected around the league currently.  It's not the gospel truth or anything.

Stats are a funny thing, you can contort them to make any point I guess

https://omny.fm/shows/the-mac-attack-podcast/mac-bone-hour-4-jake-crain-warren-sharp

starts at 18 minutes in, sharp drops some stats that stun mac and bone

In his last 4 games he had the easiest passing schedule in the NFL.

For the year Bryce was Ranked 41 out of 46 qualified qbs in accuracy, 30th in epa, 37th ypa, 39th success rate. Bryce in 28 starts has only lead at halftime 5 times.

I mean. If I'm being honest. If we're talking a Panthers QB against the Falcons. PJ Walker had the more impressive game against them amongst anyone not named Cam Newton over the last decade. And that was in week 8. Not the last game of the season with nothing to play for.

The potential return on drafting a 1st round QB is so high, I'll never fault any team for picking one.  It's the giving them a 2nd contract when they aren't that great that's the problem.

that's fair. Just don't pick a guy only you would sixth overall, you set back the team years reaching for a mid round QB.

daboll was too good for his own once he made Jones look decent.

I'll say this too, if not for Jackson, Jones maybe the best running QB. Jones has serious QB wheels.

My draft recall is awful poor, I do not know without looking it up.

I was reading some draft re-visit piece on 2022, my God that was maybe a all-timer about QB talent. The last pick saved the whole group and even some have questions about if he's a able QB. Corral had me fooled, not he in the sense of "he's a starter/savior" but Id thought he last longer than 2 years out of the league.

Im off to lookup that QB Jones draft...

Man you picked a good one, the pasted Dwayne Haskins by Redskins was the next pick 15th. I now recall he was "falling" and Daniel made the pick while the coaching staff vomited. They showed his house party and he was just standing there in front of the camera.

Drafts have many moments just like that. I thought he was worth the pick and it was great value..... Man, I am barely above Marty hernaiy on draft day...

I’m not claiming a conspiracy….but PFF for years and years ends up often spitting out some random bonkers stuff that makes little sense.    Proclaiming BY as one of the great deep ball passers….to me, where the deep dive subjective analysis they do starts to really show it’s flaws.

I mean if….

QB A  is 1/1 with a 50 yard air TD that goes for a 99 yard TD

QB B is 0/1 off a 50/50 jump ball incompletion to the back of the endzone

and PFF’s conclusion is QB B was the better deep ball passer because QB A and team made it all look to easy and what if QB B’s team pulled that one off…..

you slowly start getting too far into fantasy and make believe for me.  Which is what PFF starts getting into with some of there stuff IMO.

I’m sorry but it’s hard for me to take any opinion of yours about Bryce legitimately. I said I personally didn’t agree with the comment but he did tie a franchise record and break another one both in scoring which is the main point. So one could argue his point whether you agree with it or not.  The Falcons defense threw in the towel but their offense didn’t? Thats just an opinion to devalue the product you saw.

Unrustle your jimmies sir. You don't have to like it. But that is no doubt one of the best passing performances we've seen in many years. Even had bum ass Terrace Marshall at almost 100 receiving yards.
