Good stuff

  • Tetairoa McMillan looks like the real deal.  Legette seems faster.  Coker is cemented in.  With Thielen, Renfrow, Horn, George -- we could easily keep 7WR. (Not the first time someone on the outside of the org has mentioned Jacolby George)
  • The team views Ja'Tavion Sanders as a difference maker 
  • Rico & Etienne have looked good in the offense - provide great depth
  • No question marks on OL.  Rare to have in the league.  Even our first 2 main depth pieces after the starting 5 are returns.
  • Bryce is fully leading IN the system now - refining what he wants, working with Dave/Brad, and has the respect of the team.
  • Pat Jones & Wonnum should be relied on out of the gate, but Scourton could get a big role sooner than later.  Princely is likely to start as a DPR and develop over the course of the season.  That's our 4 man edge rotation.  
  • The team reportedly likes where we are at corner. CB1-Horn, CB2-Jackson, S-W, Corey Thornton* watch him
  • The team is also very high on Lathan Ransom.  Still advises Scott may get a role ahead of him to start the season, but could change fairly quickly.

I really dont understand why we dont give Richardson more snaps at safety.  He has done solid every time, and always seems to be around the ball in the passing game.  I think he should definitely be the other starting safety right now.

From what I read, I think from Everos interview recently, it is because Nick Scott knows the calls and can get guys adjusted presnap. Post snap, his play is marginal at best, but Evero wants a good communicator and I guess he believes none of the other guys can do it yet. I expect a change in starter at some point in the season though.

On the one hand, I get it. On the other hand, you gotta find someone who can do that while also holding their own after the ball is snapped. Nick Scott may be smart and he may really help get others in the right place pre-snap but he instantly becomes a liability as soon as the ball is snapped and it's go time.

I think Evero is way too committed to his guys in general.

Both safeties need that in the Fangio-disciple system because of how they play off each other and how we disguise roles snap-to-snap.  Both safeties need to be able to take in the call and assignment as we're trying to disguise and interchange when someone drops, runs a delayed blitz, etc.  Make a QB think we're in cover 2 when it's 3 post-snap.  There's a lot that goes to it on a snap-to-snap basis so I think it's understandable with Scott (to a certain point). 

To me- This staff doesn't seem stubborn, I think they'll recognize when it is worth putting Ransam in.

Yeah agree. I'm looking forward to the season.  No real set win expectation but I just want these guys to get their sh*t together and beat some good teams.  Joke seasons are over, it's time for them to stop embarrassing themselves and Charlotte.  Time to prove we're not cellar dwellers anymore.  Who knows, maybe we do end up surprising.  We've seen quick turnarounds like WAS and HOU.  Maybe we can finally figure it out.

Hopefully the rest of the league is as high on our fringe of the roster WRs as we seem to be and hopefully there's a team out there with a need at WR and a similar position with their LBs and we can work out a swap. I'm not saying we're getting a major impact player out of it but basically get a guy who was maybe going to snag a spot on a deep roster or at least essentially skip to the very front of the line on the waiver wire giving up a player that we may have end up having to cut anyway.

I agree with this. Does everyone remember last year when someone would have a massive pass play against us 3-4 times each game? we had multiple busted coverages every Sunday. I’d rather have Scott get beat than have free runners with nobody around them. That being said, hopefully eventually it’s a more talented guy back there who also knows all the calls

Yeah at LB, I like Wallace's potential (big year for him), but if he still has some growing pains, we absolutely cannot have crap next to him. 

From what I gather, the Rams didn't hate Rozeboom, but once some talent went down and he didn't have better talent assisting, he was pretty badly exposed.  He's an alright LB for depth, but not a starting quality LB.  You gotta see what Wallace can do year 2, but on Rozeboom's side, I think we really need to look at cut season or maybe a trade.

Yeah, Rozeboom is alright if he's your worst LB out there but if you're counting on him being the best... oh wee mayne

      You don't have to go through every game and point it out as we are discussing his GWDs. You specifically called out that he had GWDs because he is the reason the team is always playing from behind. We looked at those eight games and only Miami stands out as one where he put the team in a hole to begin with. You've added the Atlanta game where the team didn't score a TD but only kicked field goals. You're not trying to change what we're discussing to fit your feelings re: Bryce. That's not necessary. We are discussing GWDs per the thread topic. We have also shown that your opinion that the team has had to always come back due to Bryce was proven to be false as was the claim that "minus one game" was his fault. Appealing to emotion afterwards by trying to broadly paint the rest of the losses in the same way just doesn't work. Where in the Hell did you get that the entire point is the suggestion that BY is more clutch than Jake and/or Cam? It's giving something to be positive about in that Bryce has shown the ability to comeback and win games despite the calamity that might have taken place to put them behind to begin with. How is that blasphemy?

      His run blocking is making up for his negatives in pass blocking right now.  He’ll still have pass blocking hiccups, but if they think he’s a critical part to the locker room and team construction, you probably re-sign him and try not to overpay.
