The riskiest decision we could make right now is giving another massive wad of guaranteed money to an over 30 OT who is battling chronic knee issues who is still under contract this year.

If loyalty is worried about Moton having a all pro season, then fleecing us for more then 40 million he may want to investigate this thing we have called "the franchise tag".   Its a new invention that I believe we have used before.....hmmm...I wonder on who

Odd take, "yeah it worked out fine for the guy we paid and the team we traded him to, us not so much, but you are dumb anyway"

Damn dude dont ever change

We've been talking about contract.  The contract wasn't stupid by any stretch.  His play on the field since he signed it is proof.  The trouble you're having is separating his contract and play on the field with the Panthers handling and trade of him afterwards.

I 100% think it was dumb to trade him.  I understand the thinking but I would still much rather have kept him.

I'm personally happy that we extended him.

There has been no on field issues do to these knee issues that wouldn't have been even public knowledge.

He's not being paid for what he's done in the past. He's been paid what he's worth to retain another 3 seasons.

you are all over that cmac ext thread as well, fits you like a glove praising this and that one, I probably would lay low for bit

First of all, we have an offense. Any decent QB can thrive with our O-line, WRs and RBs. Secondly, you don't get better on offense by trading away one of the top five receivers in the league. Thirdly, their FO was crap. Lastly, we're not going about business in a way that's assuming Bryce Young isn't the answer.

If any decent QB can thrive then why are the top 16 highest paid players and 17 of the top 20 all QBs?

Ask them if they're worth two 1sts when you might not have a QB.

We do have a QB. Furthermore, Ray Lewis won with Trent Dilfer. Lawrence Taylor won with Phil Simms and Jeff Hostetler. Peppers almost won with Jake Delhomme. It doesn't take an elite QB to win a Super Bowl, it takes an elite team, or at least a good one catching lightning in a bottle.

Obviously, the QB is the highest paid position for a reason. Historically, pass rushers are the second highest paid players for a reason

Pro tip, if your examples are from 20 and 35 years ago its probably not the best example

Yeah, let's wait and pay the franchise tag next year of around 27 million and paint ourselves into a corner with no leverage if we wanted to extend him that 2nd year.  I like signing him now for 22 per year for 2 years.  That cheaper and smarter all the way around.

    • Any idea what happened to him at LSU? im reading that he was considered a 1st round pick in 2023, had an off 2024 season with only 4 sacks but was also on a horrible FSU team then went to LSU where he was supposed to be on an aggressive defense that should have given him a lot of sacks but he only ended up with one….   was he injured? Did the top SEC competition expose him? What happened? Cause this guy was considered a top prospect .
    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
