no issue from me on Brycen.   I'm pro youth and potential.

I don't even care about Renfrow getting cut in a vaccum.  But keeping Moore over him and just on the roster at all at this point......just highlights we are still poorly run.  Upgrading over Moore is child's play for a front office.  Yet we can't do it.

I agree.  Moore is a marginal NFL player.  And the advanced analytics bear out that he isn’t very good, but in fact, is more of a minus than a plus.  But we always have to have those guys that we can’t explain as to why they’re on our roster for years.  Honestly, it was the same poo we just did with Plummer.  He should’ve never been on any NFL roster, let alone ours for two years.  Then he gets cut after this preseason, and not just cut, but cut first.  Like I took our FO two years to figure out he wasn’t just bad, but horrible.

Moore made it for special teams.  That's what he does.  Special teams and can step in last year for a couple games if players get injured.  If you are deep on the WR list and can't play special teams you aren't making the team.

I'm convinced this organization doesn't like receivers that can actually catch the football.

Mark my words; they'll trade Thielen for peanuts and trot out XL as our WR2 and have David Moore playing WR3 while Coker rides the bench.

Sadly this could be true

I get it. Games can be lost on special teams

Yeah.  This feels like politics.

i also suspect they think they’re gonna be able to sneak him back on the practice squad and bring him up depending on what they need week to week.

He doesn't have to sneak on there. He can sign directly.

If he does not, I would gather this was never meant to be.

Moore is just a ST warm body.  Canales claiming he made it for special teams is just goobly goo for his guy that follows him at every stop.  Then it gets repeated.

David Moore is cheap and does multiple things. He makes barely more than UDFAs

Not to mention he does have a lot of familiarity with Dave and Dan.

I am not gonna throw a fit about Moore. Horn and Tremayne making it over Renfrow leads me to believe the Panthers did not value Renfrow nearly as highly as most thought.

You are talking about WR 5-6 behind TMac, XL, AT, and Coker.  Yes familiarity it something all coaches do.  They bring on players they liked from the other teams they coached at.  These players know the system with limited reps.  Moore is a NFL special teams player who can fill in and play some outside WR.  That's what you are at these deep WR positions.

This isn't exactly a rare thing, though. This does happen on a lot of NFL teams with guys they just know and trust. Rightly or wrongly.

Horn and Stephens are the ones that reallu made me think they didn't have a high value on Renfrow.

    • Sellers has bust written all over him..unless he goes to a team that can afford to sit him where he can learn the game and develop without the pressure of starting immediately. Not sure that is the Panthers. If we do go rookie in the draft, he can't be viewed as a day 1 starter. He does have potential, but I think it is going to have to be a handle-with-care situation.
    • Nothing will change with the qb situation until Tepper is convinced Young is not viable. Until that point, it will be Young. During that time, any shortcomings of Young will be because he does not have the necessary supporting cast, and/or coaches are failing him with faulty schemes and defective gameplans.  So, until Tepper is out, Young is in.
    • Young is the kind of QB who will go as far as the team drags him 90% of the time. And once in a long while he'll explode and light the opposing team up. That is not anywhere near where we need to be as a team. What' worse is that we've won way too many games this season due to an extremely easy schedule. So we can't select a top QB in the draft, and a free agent QB is usually not the answer.  The Panthers fell victim to a long stretch of bad QBs coming out of college. Even if we had made different moves and selected any number of different QBs coming out, we still would have ended up with a bust most likely. Bryce is a bust. Tua is a bust. Zach Wilson? Yikes. Trey Lance. Justin Fields. Mac Jones. Kenny Picket. CJ Stroud. My point is that a lot of teams were devastated by this stretch of bad QBs coming out of college, but we were dumb enough to trade the farm for one of them.  The smart move? Tale the 2 first round picks from the Rams for Burns, and keep CMC. Sit tight. Whatever QB falls in your lap in the draft, take him. Then use the other two first round picks to build up the o-line on the cheap. This isn't Morning GMing. I said take the Rams deal at the time. We have not had a good GM ever in franchise history.  No more trading up for QBs. Clearly is a total guessing game. Stay put. Trade vets for draft picks and start the rebuilding process with a new GM and new coaches. Cut Bryce and bring him back on a vet min deal. Then cut him again for being trash. He's done here if I had any say.
