Not to mention he does have a lot of familiarity with Dave and Dan.

I am not gonna throw a fit about Moore. Horn and Tremayne making it over Renfrow leads me to believe the Panthers did not value Renfrow nearly as highly as most thought.

Horn and Tremayne are rookies with unknown potential and ceilings.  I'm cool w/ that given we are a development team.

David Moore just adds nothing to the equation.  Doing lots poorly isn't really a plus.  Hunter Renfrow is the best short route runner on the roster and would have been quick and easy pass option for Bryce to help move chains if called upon (no one gets open on this roster for Bryce to get easy throws).

I get Renfrow is easy to like but he is a year removed from the league in which he had some pretty pedestrian stats his last two active seasons.  Throw in the fact he is already having some injury issues holding him back I can understand why he was released.

I don't get the vitriol for Moore. Just pretend he committed to Clemson.

He's a decent player for a WR6. If a game comes down to him or Renfrow, it's on whoever was ahead of them anyway.

well, what the problem w/ our offense? If you had to define the primary issues?

well, David Moore is the total package of all those issues wrapped up into one player.   So yeah, the feel good local product and watching his comeback was easily a better sell to the fanbase.   There isn't going to be a TON to enjoy this year.

I mean, you are sort of speaking out both sides of your mouth with that, right?

So, one hopes we aren't treating these roster spots like lottery scratch offs. This is based in things the coaching staff have seen to believe these guys are worthy of the roster and have value to add. Not just "maybe this will work out." That being the case, the staff also believes that Moore adds more value than Renfrow.

You can disagree with any assessment you want but it's pretty tough to make the "lottery ticket" argument work for Hunter Renfrow.

I'm convinced this organization doesn't like receivers that can actually catch the football.

Mark my words; they'll trade Thielen for peanuts and trot out XL as our WR2 and have David Moore playing WR3 while Coker rides the bench.

We have never had a receiver that is better at actually catching the ball than Thielen.  He may be older and not as fast as he once was, but no one can legitimately say he can't catch.  I think Coker and Sanders are pretty good at it as well.

Renfrow has said the Panthers are the only team he'd play for so this cut could just be an fancy way to get an extra roster spot.

They can sign him back at any time whenever the first injury hits the team.

It's also very possible they want to go young or that it was a special teams thing.

I'm a big Renfrow fan and wish him continued good health.  Would love to bring him back as a coach if his playing days are really over.

I don't see how.  I have consistently favored young players.  So I have zero issues w/ the rookies.

Moore nor Renfrow fall into that camp.  The convo is only about Moore.  Not the young guys making it over him.

I have disagreed w/ the Panthers decision makers very often this time of year for several years.   The Panthers decision makers do not have a great track record vs those criticisms.

A couple of these guys might take exception to that, but yea, I get what you’re saying.

Or for the same reasons can release him while working on Thielen trade. Im not predicting that but its plausible
