Thielen traded

Giving up Thielen, a conditional 7th AND a 2027 5th for:

A 2026 5th
A 2027 4th

Not enthused, but basically getting him for a fourth and a pick swap. Not terrible I guess.

It's not a true pick swap because the years are different. They are trading lower third of the round picks for top 10 in the round picks, though.

I would say they did win this trade.

The compensation is quite good for the player. The decision to trade seems foolish based on our situation specifically.

Oh well. I guess it's ride or die with the young guns. If they end up dying.....not sure how this is gonna work out for the FO/Coaching staff.

I’m fine ride or die. We had Theilen for 2025 and then he’s gone. We get to move up to better picks and the young guys get their opportunity.

I do find it laughable that Theilen not being here might stunt Young’s growth. JFC, for all the guys who think Morgan is doing a great job, we’ve give up 2023 pick 9, 2024 pick 1, 2024 pick 32 and 2025 pick 8.

If Adam Theilen being gone makes our passing offense go to poo after spending 3 top 10 picks and another 1st rounder, then we best fire the entire coaching and front office and start our rebuild the right way in 2026.

Probably. How many trades have the Panthers won the last five years? One?

is that a reflection on him simply wanting to go home (something he could do in Jan) or him seeing us in the preseason and wanting to play with a contender on his last ride? hmmmmmmmmm.......

I don't know that the Vikings are a contender. Generally whenever they're expected to be really good, they suck (source: my dad, who's been a Minnesota fan for more than 55 years).

Probably just wanted to retire there and give it a shot one more time.

    • Agreed. For me if I'm the Panthers. QB is in the upcoming draft plans no matter what. We need to develop a young QB2. The position is too important for the team to continue treating it as inconsequential. Now what round that QB is drafted in will be dependent on how Bryce Young looks. If he plays his ass off throughout the season then we can swing on a mid round pick. But if Bryce is average at best or has another set of games where he plays really poorly but then has some better games down the stretch then we should heavily consider swinging on a QB early. In that situation you have simply got to bring in real competition. Let them duke it out in camp 2026.
    • rent free comes to mind here   and one has to be mental if you truly believe that Young is locked into starting here "quite a few more years"    You are watching a different qb then the rest of us
    • I get your point. And of course that could be the case. As it is with any QB.  But I can tell you this, after the 2nd half of last season, it will take a complete collapse for the organization to pull the plug after this season. My above point it, the entire organization is behind Bryce and thinks he is the guy. I do too. And while I understand & respect the opinion of people not on board with BY9, this fixation and nonsense over a draft that happened over 27 months ago is insane. Like, that MF horse has been beaten to death multiple times, resurrected, and shot in the head again and left for dead. Leave it in the effing ground. We got much better things to discuss IMHO with the 2025 season getting ready to start. A season I'm excited about
