#1 overall picks have to be better than top half at their position.

You know i know this right?

i believe top 15, number 15 at that, is his ceiling

….which is infinitely higher than where he finished this year   If he isn’t at least that in year 3, it is time  to cut bait

It is what it is until it isn't

I think it sets up to be sorta similar to last year.   Hard to imagine the O is going to ready to be near whatever ceiling it will eventually have.  Young WRs, chemistry lacking, and all that gotta be worked out.   Canales isn’t really a creative guru so it’s really just going to be on them to get better and up to speed.

but the schedule is rather favorable the first quarter or so.

in the end I think they sort of progress similar to last season.  D a constant.  O goes from weak to meh to sorta okay….but  the pass game will be asked to do too much and won the ready for that ask.

Of course. I do think there will be a real reluctance from many to face the facts on him this season.

yep,  then run the damned ball with that oline if the 3rd year qb still ‘needs more time with the receivers’   But win the damned game

I really don’t know what to say anymore other than that

Seems to me a lot of rookie qbs last year seem to do just fine with WR timing (nix and Daniels come to mind) …but our 3rd starter needs time.

if, entering year 2 of Canales’ offense it isn’t sustained, or better said, repeatable and showing marketed  progress, then the team has a lot of issues

they need to beat Jacksonville. End of story .  Of course Liam,  I believe, to be a better coach than Canales and he sure knows how to burn Evero

That would mean every year the top pick is better than previous years top picks. Thats just not true.

Of course that is not true. That would be the case in a vacuum, as what I think you are saying is not taking position differences into account, but rather making a year over year comparison of top pick to top pick. There is no justification for a top overall pick to not be better than half of the other players at their position.

So, there is a bit of nuance that shouldn't just be ignored, and any lowering of expectations of a top overall pick entering their 3rd year should not be entertained.

The way you went from "there is no justification" to "there is a bit of nuance" made my head spin.

Well, you are comparing apples to oranges with that, and that is fine. I know you and I have differing perspectives on the team, and differences are good to have.

My apologies for causing you to become a bit dizzy.

Don't take it personal just him well. Hopefully whatever is going on gets better.

Nothing wrong with a difference of opinion at all. I think we can both agree though that going from "there is no justification" to "there is nuance" is an abrupt pivot... enough to make anybody do a double-take. 😛
