I’m trying to be positive on Bryce Young, but….

I’m SMH and trying to figure out how Bryce goes from horrible to being top 10 the last 10 games of 2024 to being horrible again.

This is where I'm at.

He's shown that he can be good. He's also shown he can be very...not good 😕

(he's kinda like Revelation 3:15 at this point)

Bottom Line: Unless he can be consistently good for more than just the back half of a wasted season, it's not gonna matter.

When everything is going perfect (incredibly strong running game, OLine keeping him clean) he can just about brush mediocre. It's damning how much Canales takes the ball out of his hands.

Three first round picks for that, ladies and gentlemen.

Can’t alter the past. Just deal with the bullcrap and move on. Young is already in the rear view mirror for me and I’m focusing on future QB classes

He clears left to give himself a clean look.  And Sanders is breaking to the left in stride, should easily be able to place it well.  Toss it, lead JT to only where he can grab it, it's a 13 yard throw.

But then he suddenly stops, plants in a terribly awkward position, with his body parallel to the LOS, feet are facing in opposite directions angled outward.  It's egregious for a QB at a D2 level.

start this at 7 m 15 s and put it on .50 playback speed:

I think he was trying to give XL a chance at it in the corner and XL sort of got stopped off his route. He had a defender coming down into his face too which is sort of why he stopped and threw awkwardly.

Still, agree it was a jittery play by BY and I'm sure he'd like that on eback.

Allow me to be the only homer here.

That game was bad. BY was bad. But I feel like a lot of the source behind that comes down to coaching.

BY and the team look horribly unprepared to play live NFL reps together. Tempo, rhythm, and feel just wasn't there across the board all day. That's not just Bryce's fault, but how the team is prepared overall, which comes down to the coaches. Enough has been said about starters in the preseason that we can understand what might be going wrong.

Bryce still hasn't proven what type of QB he is yet. The bounce back from benching is worth remembering because there was some genuinely dope play during that run. At this point, I think he's Jekyll and Hyde, and a lot of that comes down to his mental game. Again, this is a coaching thing, but if he can't get past the nerves and the pressure, he's done for sure...but if he can tighten up, and the team can tighten up around him to at least provide a solid foundation, we could end up looking past all of this.

It's week one, and a big week one considering the lack of play time together. It's not uncommon for a QB to struggle in his third year, so I'm not writing him off yet.

From what people have been saying, and I agree with them. Is that he was so good towards the end because there was no pressure to win. We were already out of the playoffs so everything was just icing on the cake. Now with a new season and “expectations” his mental fortitude sucks. He just doesnt have what it takes to make the tough and good decisions in critical moments of a game.

This, 1000 percent

…and let’s be honest…do we really think KC or Philly took playing them seriously…I don’t …and Atlanta could see the score coming in from the other game that determined  their fate at season’s end

he is also better with prevent defenses later in the game

i wish him no ill will but at the NFL level, he just is not fit for it

he is not physically fit or tough enough   His short comings  handicapped the offense   I mean sweet Jesus, you don’t know how to slide…still…had you, that fumble would not have been lost

Qb, in the league, it is a grind. It is physically brutal and mentally torturous   Everyone is a critic    I listened to a Cam podcast last week about the crap he put up with and he is a tough guy.

look at the year 1 and 2 QBs, will he ever be as good as they are,  will he ever play at a high and consistent level…no is my thought.  It was a mistake then, it is a mistake now

    • I have no problems with difference of opinions.  Difference of perspective.  Perspective is everything.   The statement you made was false. Period. So sorry that you don't like me calling it out.  Frankly, Frank,  I gave up on seeing anything eye to eye with you when I was a much younger man.  Nothing I said was a personal insult, so get over yourself.  As far as comparing rosters.  I just dont give a fug.  There are no 2 rosters in this league that are built the same as far talent and contracts. Every team is on their own journey.  Is our passing offense far from desired? Yes, we can agree on that part, but not on why it has struggled.  I wish we could easily just drsft all the talent we need, the the NFL doesn't,  and hasn't worked that way.  Dan Morgan did a fantastic job at bringing in talent along the line, and retaining talent along the line. We needed it also, as we used every bit of the depth we had, most of the season.  Unfortunately we were relying on a receivers room that their average age is less than my oldest son, and that is NEVER a recipe for success for the group.  The constant shuffle at online was horrible. Despite how horrible it was, our online actually performed well above expectations for what they went through.  We also need our play caller to attempt to stick to an offensive identity.   Unfortunately,  Dave C. didn't do that, for whatever reason.  Hell, the online was the highlight of our offense this season. Wished the rest of the offense performed as consistent.  He'll, wish our defense performed that consistent.  I'll give you credit, for not dropping to your expected behavior in your response.  Congratulations.  Have a goodnight.
    • Linderbaum is also a pretty specialized center based on his size and strengths and im not sure he would be great here.
