Can we all admit it now?

I agree with most of this outside of Bryce just sucks and that he is not an NFL starter.

He proved he can play and we can be very competitive and I still see too much potential to give up.  If you'd had your way we would have not seen the huge improvements in his game last year.

You were proven wrong then.  Jury is still out on this year and his future.

In fact if I was given the option to extend him, it not only a no, it's a hell now.  Same answer to cutting or trading him.

It's not just Bryce.  It's the whole team and coaching staff.

Keep Pounding.

Bryce limits the offense with his natural given limitations. He has to have passing lanes to throw or it has to be outside the numbers. So you've got to generate passing lanes or let him go off schedule which causes sack fumbles for touchdowns or bad throws for int because he can't see the defense.

If you generate lanes for him, he gets happy feet and goes off schedule on his own a lot which generally leads to negative plays.

He's just a bad QB and needs to be benched.

The question was regarding Bryce only play well when the game doesn't matter and us out of reach.

Bryce did not have a great 4th quarter but he had a great 1st half.  Started the game 4 of 5 for 45 yards and a passing TD.

He actually started by taking a sack, throwing short of the sticks on third and punting.

the second drive Chuba had 60 yards rushing.

Bryce only looks good when he’s handing off.

The Panthers have been the opposite of competitive under Bryce Young.

The team I watched after Bryce came back from his benching was very competitive and improving and trending in a very positive direction.

We went 4 and 6 in those 10 games.

Got blown out in 2 of them, Dallas and the 2nd TB game.  A team that is the opposite of competitive does not lose and win so many games by less than a TD.

Den - lose by 14
NO - win by 1
NYG - win by 3
KC - lose by 3
TB - lose by 3
Philly - Lose by 6
Dallas - lose by 16
Cards - won by 6 OT
TB - Utter blowout. lost by 34
ATL - won by 6

And this was with possibly one of the worst defenses in NFL history and a 1st year head coach and a lot of young players.

That is a team learning and being competitive but can't finish and hasn't learned how to be consistent.  Is it good enough? NO. NO. NO and triple dog NOOOO.  Not by a long shot but definitely not a stretch that says you fire everybody.

Teams that are competitive don’t get blown out twice in four weeks to end the season.

They barely beat some bad teams.

the defense kept them close against the eagles and chiefs until the fourth quarter because the offense couldn’t find their ass with two hands before that. Eagles obviously didn’t take them very seriously, and the chiefs were pretty clearly smoke and mirrors in retrospect.

That worst defense in the league shut down the eagles for most of the game. Mahomes was held scoreless in the fourth until the final drive. That doesn’t matter of course because it doesn’t support the Bryce narrative

Falcons fired their defensive coordinator after the week 18 game, to give you an idea of what people who get paid to know the game think of him.

Since you also posted the Denver game, worth pointing out thumbing do anything for three quarters after the first drive until Denver went into garbage (Bryce) time.

They got a meaningless late touchdown to make it a 14 point and give Bryce some yards.

Since we’re moving into superlatives, they weren’t competitive at all in that game.

and Bryce also got complete outshone by Bo Nix and anyone with pride would retire after that.

There are still people who think Wilks was a good answer and he is the DC for the Jets, who have allowed slightly more yards than thr Panthers in 2 games.

Some people just like being disappointed.

I understand very clearly that Wilks’ approach in ‘22 wasn’t going to make us able to beat the better teams, but he got us competing and succeeding against the teams we should beat, similar teams to us. And it felt the best any stretch has felt, under Tepper.
But Tepper and the mob here had to have themselves the Offensive Minded HC, play caller guru. How’s that working out?

I know this: guys in the locker room were all about Wilks. He equaled or bested the win total of every other coach under Tepper before or since. It is a fact, and not for nothin.

FWIW I didn’t think he was gifted as a DC, when he was here as the DC. But he was excellent coaching DBs. All those jobs are different I guess, take different skill sets. I think his strength as a HC was getting people to follow him. That goes a long way.

After what has befallen this team since rejecting him, I don’t feel like a lesser fan for supporting him, I promise you that.

Even if you concede that Bryce gets better as the season goes on you cant have a QB that just surrenders the first 2 games and the next 4 or 5 are iffy

Or is only competitive agains mostly poo teams in the back half.

Unfortunately we’re getting the poo teams in the front half this year and, whelp, here we are.

Yes, first drive was a good run, a sack and a 3/13 Bryce threw for 9.  Then we punted.
2nd drive - 23 yard deep pass to XL (who caught it) - Great pass by Bryce and good catch by XL
26 yard Chuba run - Great run by Chuba
3 yard Chuba run - moving the sticks
6 yard pass to XL (who caught it again) - moving the stick
26 yard run by Chuba - love a balanced attack!!! great run
1 yard run from Chuba - moving the sticks
Incomplete pass by Bryce.
5 yard TD pass from Bryce. - Good job by Bryce in the red zone.

This was a very good series early in the game where Bryce, Chuba and the team played very well.
No turnovers by Bryce.  Chuba had a fumble in the 3rd.

Next series:
4 yard run
24 yard pass
15 yard run
8 yard pass
1 yard run
2 yard run
3 yard pass
4 yard run
5 yard penalty
Field goal good.

Bryce did not have a very good 2nd half but not horrible either.  He didn't make any mistakes that cost us the game.  He had a 24 yard scramble and a TD pass to Moore called back because because of an illegal formation.

That was and is positive progress so soon after he was benched.  All around good team win and while Bryce didn't ball out he had a number of good throws and scrambles and didn't turn the ball over.

I wanted an offensive guy, but that guy for damn sure wasn't Frank Reich. I wanted Steichen or Ben Johnson. If we did go defense, I wanted to take a hard look at Ryans or Wilks. Can't ever remember thinking, damn I wish we had some of that Indy offense here in Carolina.

The team goes as the QB goes. Bryces weaknesses are on display every game... as well as the OL's... the WR's, the freakin coach all have an input to suckage and they don't live up to half their potential..... and when you multiply that you have the sht we do.  If Bryce was my 16 yr old grand daughter who just got her license I wouldnt get in the car with her..... Canales, green as fk, has to scheme around Bryces deficiencies all game.

I for one am ready for the Bryce experience to be over. His limitations are mind numbing and will never change and all the talk about him being a super processor and point guard was just propaganda that Tepper fell for hook, line, and sinker. Put his soft ass on the bench and move on.

This experiment (that's what it is when you draft a 5-11 190lb QB) should have been over at this point, not another game to see what he has or any of that mess.

He can't read defenses, he can't play in the NFL unless it's against prevent defense. Just bench him and move on.

The Card's DC should be fired for running prevent against Bryce. Why on earth would you back your guys up to defend parts of the field that Young cant even throw the ball to?
