"We've communicated like I communicate to everyone else," Young said in a press conference. "Having a guy like that out there, it's a luxury for me. It's a luxury for this offense. We all, as an organization, have a ton of faith in him."

I watched a breakdown on XL recently, maybe it was here, but I’m less critical of him afterwards.  He showed every touch he had against AZ, and most of them were doomed from the start.  And I know it seems easy and convenient, but I think it all starts and ends with Bryce.  Until we have someone who is a threat to throw the ball downfield, guys are gonna keep loading up the box and being super aggressive blitzing and closing out on tackles because they have no consequence for NOT doing so.  And then a lot of the targets he got against AZ weren’t even on target.  Much like with those jump balls Bryce threw to Renfrow, just because you get your hands on it doesn’t mean it’s catchable ball.

yeah, XL didn't do anything actually week 2 like the toe thing week 1.  Dave can't scheme him up a play.  Those go horrible (like the handoff or the screen that wasn't really even a screen).  Nothing was there.

as for the rest, XL just isn't a good enough WR for his route running to shake himself open on some predictable routes.  Most targets to him were off target or thrown to be contested balls.

I will say this, XL does not play to his size though when a ball is up in the air.  He doesn't seem to actually have any sort of advantage for a contested 50/50 ball.  That's really a skill set more than size thing.  Some dudes just go up great.

In 118 snaps so far this season, Xavier Legette has managed to amass an entire 8 more yards of offense than a Huddle poster.

4 catches for 8 yards and 1 rushing attempt for 0 yards.

I formally apologize to TMJ and Mingo for comparing them to XL this offseason. You guys deserve better than that.

When Coker comes back we have to replace XL in the lineup with him. Playing XL at this point practically amounts to playing 10 vs. 11.

but in terms of OP? What is Bryce supposed to say.  The past couple seasons have made it well known there really is nothing to gain by listening to folks on a bad team have to answer questions about why they stink.  They aren't going to be real or tell truths.  It's just the spin zone.

I agree completely.  I’m not absolving XL of his errors and shortcomings, but week 2 was definitely less an issue with him as it was QB and coaching/scheme.

It’s becoming abundantly clear, not just with XL, but with everyone on the offense, our coaches are not crafting a game plan to play to their players’ strengths, but rather they’re creating a game plan and then trying to fit guys into it where each position is treating each player as interchangeable and they’re not.  The breakdown I watched also discussed how no one expected XL to be destroying people with his route running coming out - that would have to be refined.  So, the poo we’re seeing, we can’t really blame him for.  He has gotten open enough often, but the passes are often off-target.  And he would likely excel more as a guy who can threaten with the deep ball to take the top off the defense, but we don’t have a QB that can throw that pass.

I think starting this week you gotta work in Tremayne out there.   You don't got to bench XL but Tremayne just seems to be clearly a better WR at this stage (despite XL having the physical tools).   I think waiting on Coker is malpractice.

    • His physical attributes aren't going to change on a new team so I have no idea how he would pan out elsewhere but I can logically assume those issues he has had with processing which was supposed to be his key selling point before the draft would follow him. He was also supposed to be someone who thrives when the play breaks down but he has been inconsistent at best on that and at times horrific. I think where we each take a fork in the road on the determination of Bryce Young currently is you seem to still be treating him as a rookie and not a third year QB still repeating the same mistakes while showing that he has no arm talent to overcome even the slightest bit of adversity. I've said all along his rookie year and his sophomore season that I would be willing to overlook his interceptions if he was pushing the ball downfield consistently and even if he turned the ball over forcing a pass here and there to keep defenses honest I would accept it. But he has nothing. There is no deep passing game here. He threw the ball 55 times in Arizona which was 30 more times than Kyler Murray and only had a little over 100 more passing yards than him. Legitimately you should read that again and ponder it. That is embarrassingly atrocious. Circumstances here are not ideal with the WR's and OL but we cannot normalize this. It is horrendous. And we need to swallow our pride and begin scouting QB's for the 2026 draft. In the meantime this cannot continue on much longer for the sake of the locker room. And the upcoming schedule isn't going to get any better. If there is a silver lining to any of this we are going to find out just who Dave Canales really is throughout the rest of the season. He isn't getting a pass either.
    • I don't hate it but.....  eeeh it would take acquiring Kaprizov without giving up svech to make rod try Jarvis at 2C. Svechnikov/Aho/Kaprizov  Ehlers/Jarvis/Stankoven
    • Given the fact he declined buku bucks over on the HOF hockey board most don't think they will even get svech..... (not even canes fans) The $$$$ tag plus lack of leverage for Minny could end up seeing him dealt for somthing around what we got for Ranttanen....
