You do know Bryce would have been the number 1 pick no matter who picked him. I could can post film breakdowns of what makes Bryce “special” but you will just pop poo it .

Cool.  But that’s over with.  Draft position doesn’t matter.  I mean it’s giving him a longer than deserved opportunity.   Top picks show every year they ain’t good enough for the league.  We haven’t actually had that happen to us a lot….but it’s happening now.

In those 6 games Darnold played he had 9 total TD and the running game was doing the heavy lifting and no Tet is not in DJ level. DJ is one of the few WR than can take a simple swing pass 80. And we are talking about 2023 when Bryce number one was Thielen.

Let's not pretend we didn't have an extremely potent running game at the end of last year, too. Chuba sat the last two games of the season but had 1200 yards last year and the only games we won with Bryce where Chuba averaged approx 5 YPC or more, other than Atlanta. Atlanta is why I thought Bryce turned a corner.  But... nope

And meh, DJ is great for YAC, but Tet has more YPC and more total yards than DJ.  And, at least before today, Tet even had more YAC than DJ (and more YAC/R).

We traded up for Matt Corral and flushed him down the toilet after like 2 plays on film.  3 seasons is kinda crazy given what we’ve seen.

Nobody is saying this is a good franchise. Nobody is saying Canales is a good coach. Nobody is saying Dan Morgan is a good GM. Nobody is saying the Tepper's are good owners. All of that doesn't change the fact that we are starting a significantly physically limited QB who is hindering and failing the moving parts around him as much as they are him. This isn't about winning. Nobody that isn't a top to bottom homer expected a winning season this year. I certainly didn't. But we can compete better than this even with all the other things going on. Everything is falling apart because the team goes as the QB goes and it has always been that way and it always will be. No amount of all caps or exclamation marks will change that sir.

But here's the thing I have to wonder. Is Canales a bad coach or is Tepper forcing him to start and play Bryce, because based on performance, it would seem so. Bryce is limited. Most of us agree on that. How much is that limiting the offense? How much is it limiting the playbook? How much is Tepper's likely interference affecting the locker room? Everywhere you look, nothing thats happening in this organization makes any sense unless you plug in that Dave has some serious influence in how the team is being run, including who starts.

This is verbatim the things we said about Reich. This is staff #2 for Bryce Young.

The best this passing offense has looked since 2023 was with Dalton in Seattle under Reich and in 2024 with Dalton in Las Vegas under Canales.

That tells you all you need to know

The contrast was stark. Black and white vs color tv.

If Bryce had been the mid-round pick he honestly should've been - I mean, let's face it, he was basically a Stetson Bennett level prospect from a physical toolset standpoint - he'd already be bounced out of the league with the play he's put on tape.

Please do. I’m sure it will be a short clip.

At minimum, he wouldn't be a starter right now. Which is ok. He'd be riding the bench. We'd have pursued a vet starter while he learned. Things we should have done anyway. And if he legitimately beat them out for QB1, great. If not, its backup QB or on to the next team. No hard feelings.

It's not going to be long before Dave is going to be forced to bench him again and that will be the end for him on this team.

It stands to reason that there would have been conditions of employment baked into an agreement. Especially if it is a 7 year deal (someone said it was I have forgotten).
Bryce gets two years of development before the cut bait clause kicks in, or something like that. It makes too much sense.
Canales would still have time to draft and develop his guy under those terms.

I know this, if Bryce is bullshit, fools gold, those players know it right away. if people don’t think being forced to take the field with a guy you have no faith in does not affect their attitudes, they aren’t thinking right. It can’t not affect things, even in professionals.

I am not dying on the Canales hill, but I don’t think he gets a fair evaluation if he is only judged by what he can do with Bryce’s leading the team. Not him specifically, that goes for anyone.
