Well you don’t , uhh we don’t know the ins and outs of that trade up and why he was the guy they chose. Canales may not have been driving that.

But how do we overlook the QB as far as standing out for sucking?

Canales came out and said that shortly after drafting him iirc

we don’t. Two people can suck. But man fuging legette doesn’t even know how to play football and doesn’t seem to want to learn.

Like this guy is arguing in favor of Canales sticking around and picking a defensive coordinator by comparing him to a better coach who probably should not have been allowed to pick his offensive coordinator.

I am undecided on Canales. My thoughts were okay he is a qb guy and the deal is, (Tepper perspective) if I hire this QB guy to fix Bryce and he can’t then I will accept that he he can’t be fixed.
And I will have a QB guy in place to get a real one. I was good with that.

I have a hard time stopping after chapter one. I need to see chapter two if possible

Further, the saying ‘fraud vitiates everything’ applies to this. Bryce is a basically a fraud. That is how my brain works: strange or not I see this as only the first part of the test and I knew Bryce could not be fixed. He isn’t broken in the first place. He is exactly what they drafted. He didn’t get ruined this is who he has always been and you cannot ‘fix’ him to be Drew Brees like everybody claimed he was.
Said it before, it’s like handing a chef dog food and expecting a great steak. And then blame the chef.

I just want it to play out. Hell I was a Wilks Darnold keep the 9th pick guy anyway. I am not married to Dave I just want to see us stay the course and judge at the end of the test. If he fails then, he fails do what you want.

I can’t get upset at people disagreeing the way I get upset over the ridiculous Bryce love and stanning and their name calling over it.
I am out of explanation that’s about it.
I may just link this for future arguments

PS  Bryce, he is below replacement level you can get what he gives us really cheap.

Feels like this part is worth mentioning too:

Worse, Mayfield and Darnold were both with the Panthers before Young’s arrival, and both have turned into quality starters since they left Carolina. So, while Young hasn’t played well, let’s not pretend he’s been dropped into an ideal situation.

We had guys here who could play and decided to go in a different direction (twice). Who is in charge of evaluating QBs in this organization? Tepper? Because the revolving door of coaches and GMs keep changing while the problems stay the same.

Young wasn't drafted by Canales.  Canales shouldn't be held accountable until he can hire his own DC and draft his own QB.

Agreed. He also Wasn't responsible for a trade that got the bears

Dj moore, Caleb Williams,  tyrique Stevenson, Darnell Wright, and Luther burden either.

All talent he could be working with instead of the bare cupboard it is now.

The other thing about Canales is he wasn’t a qualified hire when we hired him. No other team in the league even interviewed him. Just two years prior he’d been demoted in Seattle.

I find the mitigating circumstances unconvincing when his performance has been exactly what you’d expect from an unqualified head coach way in over his head. At the least you can’t say he’s shown the ability to overcome anything.

    • The NFL has a QB problem because of college ball. They aren’t producing pro style prospects.  Same for OL especially try to find a LOT.  OT used to be pretty reliable in the draft but now you have as many busts as you have at QB it feels like.
    • The current OL issues were always my concern when we made the panic FA signings that catapulted our salary cap allocation to the unit to the top of the league. For a brief time we did our victory lap but as we have learned as Panthers fans it takes more time to form a full picture. We are really not that much better off and we should have invested in the unit via the draft. There are many things wrong with this franchise currently. The defense is something we've discussed extensively. Evero is not the guy he was sold to be and we hilariously forced him to stay which has blown up in our faces. But for all the talk of how historically bad the defense was last year the reality of the matter is salary cap wise we are amongst the bottom of the league investment wise on that side of the ball for the year so everything flips back to the offense and rightfully so. Really the only thing going for us against the Dolphins is that it's a home game. But my expectations for the offense are more of the same. Even if we score on the first drive it just feels like a matter of time. When we played the Dolphins in 2023 we actually hopped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter then they took us out to the woodshed for the second half. We'll see how ugly it gets this go around.
    • Even with Hill gone...they still play with a lot of speed and up tempo.... too much for Everos monkeyazz defense.  I really look for them to smoke us.... bad.
