I know the point you were making. My point is the original post stated a good QB elevates the talent around him. You are correct that Smith was better under Cam than Clausen. I agree with that. But he was also better with Delhomme than Clasuen as well. Cam didn't make Smith a better receiver - Clausen just made him worse.

I mean, the overriding point might be that Bryce is closer to Clausen than Cam or Jake. And we see that correlating in the performance of the WRs with Bryce.
If we could only have an NFL average passer everyone would be able to see this.

Edit I should have put that last bit differently. If we had the opportunity to slot an NFL average QB in with these same WRs we might see a difference.

I guess the point I was trying to make went completely over your head. All of those guys mentioned who were on the team in 09-11 had essentially career worst years in 2010 and must have just magically turned it around the next season.

Or you know, the more logical explanation is that it matters significantly who is under center operating the offense.

Steve smith is basically a HoF WR and he put up 500 yards and 2 TDs with Clausen under center and the next year with a rookie Cam put up 1400 yards and 7 TDs.

You can have all the talent in the world but it doesn’t really matter if your QB sucks.

Look at what's happening now with the Bengals. Burrow is out and Chase and Higgins are "struggling" with Browning.

A wild statement for a guy who won an MVP with Ted Ginn Jr. as his #1 WR. I mean, just listen to Greg Olsen. Greg very openly gives Cam a TON of credit for how his career played out.

I don't know that I would call that a wild statement. I mean, yeah, Ginn had a good year in 2015 but his other two years with Cam were just average.

I absolutly do agree with the statement that Cam was a big part of Olsens career and have no problem crediting him with Olsen's wildly successful career.

So having a QB that allows an already good player to play even better wouldn’t be considered elevating to you?

Smith had back to back sub 1k seasons with a one armed Jake Delhomme, Matt Moore, Jimmy Clausen and one game of Brian St Pierre.

Cam 100% elevated a 32 year old Steve Smith.

If you really believe that, then there is nothing else for me to say.

@mav1234 Might take me a little bit to find the throws without pressure. To your earlier point, in my opinion his throws under pressure looked better more often than those without.

Let's see a career compilation instead of one that only shows the games where he "improved" last season. Because we all should be able to agree he regressed.

We had the 32nd passing offense with Adam Thielen at 1k receiving yards in 2023 just to be clear. Maybe he just isn't the player at this stage in his career that some of you wanted him to be.

Or maybe they were 32nd because his other receivers were Jonathan Mingo, DJ Chark, and Terrace Marshall JR..

Unless you are going by some twisted definition of elevate, this isn’t something one believes. The numbers back it up as fact.

we saw a washed Dalton be inserted with Frank and Canales.....and the passing attack immediately became more threatening with the same weapons.  We know a NFL average QB (which Andy isn't) would automatically make a team more threatening than Bryce.  Not sure we need to see it for a 3rd straight season.

I see the Bryce crew is back to trying to gaslight people into thinking Bryce was a good deep passer last year lol.

to that, I would merely ask the Bryce crew to post the stat line for his plays 20+ yard down field last year.  It's on the board.   It's really bad.  Just like this year.  Just like his rookie year.   Not the PFF gaslighting.  We know you can all share the PFF thought.

Tremayne being a solid wr is a good thing. Xl has been mediocre so far and tmac is a legit alpha. But we need a #2 and if 2 udfa in Coker and Tremayne can fill the 2 and 3 that is stealing. Getting over 100 yards with limited snaps and with young as your qb is nothing to sneeze at. As a rookie udfa that was buried on the depth chart I can see him getting 4-500 yards this year
