If his seat was hot enough for him to be fired 6 games in then you should've just fired him when you made the decision to draft a QB #1 overall. I don't think you go from "this is definitely our guy" to "you're fired in 6 games". Seems like there would be had to have been doubts going in and that's not a recipe for success for a rookie QB.

100% and a completely different discussion.

But once you brought him back this year, firing him 6 games into the season just seems dumb to me.

I like to use the analogy that a high draft pick QB is like a new supercar. Great to have one except too often, one forgets that they are high maintenance. A bad team secures their car under a cheap tent, puts regular gas in the tank, services it at Pep Boys, and then blames the car for not working properly and proceeds to get another one.

At the least, Ward getting sacked 25 times already is a massive red flag. If you can't protect your rookie QB, you do not put him out there. Otherwise, it's taking your supercar and immediately spinning it right into a tree. A few survive that rough of a start. Most do not.

Especially when one of the things Ward needed to work on moving to the NFL was getting the ball out faster. He played a lot like Caleb Williams in college. He'd hold the ball forever trying to looked for the big chunk play. In the NFL most plays are designed to get the ball out fast and you setup your plays where you're trying to take a shot.

Fair analogy, but if you want to take it a step further, firing your HC this early into his career is like buying that car, not taking care of it for the first month you have it, and then tossing the keys to a 16 year old who just got his license and doesn't know how to properly drive or maintain a car like that either.

Neither are good, one just seems worse to me.

For even the most "NFL ready" QB's, the transition is not easy. Last thing you need is a constant shift in personnel and, in turn, constant change of offensive systems.

On a side note, had to remind myself who Ward's targets are. Ridley and Lockett would've been more exciting a few years ago but now... they do have a rookie WR and Van Jefferson. Ridley is out with a hammy, though. We may be fielding rookies but at least their ceiling is tbd.

    • Brother, I keep saying and thinking " This team just needs one legit pass rusher " I think the difference would move the team D up nearly 10 spots. Just one guy that gives you either hurries, pressure, TFL, and/sacks sacks.  I can not help myself with thinking its the #1 need/want, even with Prince and Nic. I know about Nic and prince, but I am thinking the #1 pick is needed at edge even with the major ILB, Safety, and becoming CB holes.  Its pointless and all, cause no way on that top QB money, but Parsons with these current motivated D unit..... I would be playoff dreaming.......(and then crying come draft day...)
    • Jesus....Thats MVP stuff. My biggest concern is that we are gonna run him into the ground before the season is over with just rack a couple wins.
