QBs that would cost next to nothing and are better than anything we currently have.

Depends on what you're trying to do. Bring a guy in cheap to continue to build the roster while drafting QBs until we finally hit one sure. Thinking they are going to take us to the playoffs and win games on them? That list is doodoo. All those guys and Bryce have something in common. None of them are winning a Superbowl as a starting QB in this league

Because quarterbacks are at the center of everything, when you’re winning, your QB is playing well, when you’re losing, he’s playing poorly. As long as we play well, we’re not getting a new quarterback. The only way Bryce gets replaced is if the team completely falls apart and people start getting fired.

There’s no middle ground.

I think the Alex Smith to Mahomes transition might debunk that. They dropped in a better QB and it transformed them.

Any QB moves need to happen in the off season. Morgan made this bed and we all have to lie in it. Young will be on the roster next year. If Dalton plays well Sunday then he probably will be too. We need to draft and or bring in a vet next year.

Even if we stand pat on Bryce in the near term there needs to be some new blood and some real competition to push this thing higher.

Overpay for Daniel Jones - assuming he doesn’t take whatever offer Colts make during season so he can leverage free agency.

Gardner Minshew as the backup. Let Bryce and Andy walk off into the sunset together.

Interesting idea but if he clicks there I don’t see him wanting to leave. At this point in time anyway, absent some snafu situation arising

It is really difficult...Darnold and Baker did not get good, the found a system and supporting cast...Traditionally, we do not have a system in which QBs tend to prosper.

I don't like having a QB room that is not competitive.  In my view, you draft a QB and then you keep trying to beat him out with newer qbs...when they cost $240m, you do not settle by paying a mediocre qb that kinda money.  You find a qb you'd gladly pay that much for.

Good point…I personally think probably the #1 factor on whether these young QBs succeed early on is where they go and who they have around them.  Bryce has clearly shown me that physical stature and arm talent is very important as well as it’s clear he has limitations there.  Whether or not to pay him long term is such a dicey decision to me cuz he is still young and improving but his ceiling is pretty damn concerning.

I think we saw his ceiling vs Dallas. He played well the whole game and did what he does.

He did less, but there can be degrees of more throwing but I don’t think it gets better in terms of his capabilities than that game. That is the peak.

But PS, that was a bad defense. What happens against good ones?

This is why I said overpay. Make him have no choice.

I like the idea of signing him at first glance, I am not trying to shoot it down, but couldn’t they make a good enough offer that would fug their cap up too?

They are in the same place we are, no QB for years and now may think they have one depending on how the year plays out. If it was Tepper against Irsay’s daughter (?) we know Tepper can pay his way to winning but with the cap?

Hindsight 20/20 we shouldve kept Darnold after 2023, that year drafted Jack Campbell as our ILB, and then the following year we would've been in a postion to take Maye, Bowers, Alt, Nabers, Nix, etc.

sigh.....

It wasn’t hindsight for some. But we would likely still have had Fitterer and that is a big negative, so those draft decisions, well who knows?

Put the same all out upgrade effort they gave Bryce, we had all the picks back and DJ still, Plus all the stuff they did. But do we pay Burns or add OL? I do t think the IOL would have had the same focus put on it.

So many variables. But the QB? Lord… no one asked me back then but to hell with drafting Bryce in almost any case and I was good with Darnold. If everything else was as it is right now we would be rocking.
