BREAKING: Panthers make roster moves

Yes, they got to play against college defenses.

Nah, beyond the obvious.  I heard after that draft that it was simplified and ran some very basic concepts that made it super easy for the QB.  I think it was spread but they also either limited the reads to one side of the field or it was one read type stuff.  Things you can’t run in the pros.  I figured it was a lost cause once the Lions let him go.

He can't read defenses. NFL game is another level and either he's unwilling to put in work or just can't put it together.

People were clamoring for this guy to start lol

Bro, we have some real delusional fans.

Hooker was about as obvious as it gets. If you got fooled by that guy, it's time for some real looking in the mirror and assessing your ability to recognize an NFL player.

Well we paid another local guy. He got a heck of an experience. Now, take your litttle nest egg or sports car and go home and coach.

Hooker? I think max practice squad pay is something like $22k per week. I doubt he got half that. More than I make though. By a lot.

Have to eat my humble pie here.  I advocated us taking him in his draft bc I thought he had the tools to be a great NFL QB.  Looks like that Tennessee offense was really QB friendly.

Don’t help yourself to too many servings of that humble pie. If you are looking at the Carolina Panthers as your barometer for evaluating QB talent, well…

To be fair I bet a lot of people don’t sit and watch every college game, even if they do have the time to watch college ball there’s so many teams that you can’t  watch every game so most people just look at stats, highlight reels and sports pundits who hype up and rank college players.

looking at his stats where in the last two seasons he threw for 31 tds 3 INTs 68% completion percentage, and over 600 yards on the ground and 27 tds 2 INTs 69% completion percentage and over 400 yards on the ground.

those are amazing numbers, especially in the SEC.

I understand how the right system can mask a players deficiencies but you still got to give the player some credit.

he also had a horrible injury in his last game of his college career which probably also effected his nfl career.

Hooker’s making $22K per week?  Tell me again why I went to grad school…

I doubt it. I looked up the pay scale and if you are three years vested you work off a better minimum-maximum range than the less senior players.
The top of that is 22.
Okay I just searched. That is last year. It’s up to $25k. Minimum is $13k

just google: nfl practice squad salary 2025

    • This guy pre-draft was saying he could take or leave football, and he seems to have been playing with that mentality ever since lol.
    • Agreed, another safety would be nice. Bud Clark, TCU, is one I would like to see us take a flyer on later in the draft, if he stays healthy and we don't take someone earlier. I just really hope we draft a solid C this year. Tired of seeing us cycle through average to below average players in that area.
    • Bryce doesn't like throwing into the middle of the field unless the play broke down or it's set up to give him a passing lane.  So because of this issue, most of the passing offense has to be outside the numbers towards the boundary. So you see him throw a lot of dump offs, swing routes, short side out routes, comebacks or deep balls outside the numbers using the boundary as protection of an interception.    Pretty easy for a NFL defense to see this and scheme against it.  All you have to do is run a shell cover 2 deep dime, LB plays a hook underneath, take the flat away with a blitz/flat zone option for the two inside DB's, outside two DB's play hook zone underneath and carry anything deep.    Pretty much what NO ran to take away Rico while also limiting What Bryce can do as well.
