I’m not paying for the athletic because none of the panthers writers there are worth supporting.

assuming this is on top of his extension and let’s just say they decide to do it after he completed a check down in the preseason, this is like 5 years 60 million, or 12 mil/season

What’s even the point of keeping him if that’s all he’s worth? Why commit to five years of this if you value him only slightly more than Russell Wilson?

You can get the Athletic for $2 per month.
But it isn’t impressive. It is all columnists mostly, not daily up reporting, not much gets written during the week.

Baseball coverage is the same. That’s mostly what I follow.  Foot and base ball.

I really doubt Bryce or his camp would agree to that

it doesn’t make sense from either side.

If you’re the panthers why are you blocking in for five years for a midget putting up garbage production? You can get this from Jacoby brissett and he doesn’t have Bryce’s limitation. And if by some miracle bryce starts putting up actual starter numbers just franchise him and figure it out later.

bryce clearly doesn’t have any shame or insight because he hasn’t quit. Imagine him acknowledging that this is what his play is worth.

Person is such a fraud.

The amount of money we have tied up in the OL does not match the production at all

The Ickey injury is obviously very unfortunate but if it forces us to take a LT in the 1st or 2nd to save on another big time contract to the OL it might be a blessing in disguise (assuming of course the guy we draft isn’t a complete dud)

I wonder if the Panthers take a flier on Evan Neal. I never liked Neal as a prospect but he obviously played with Bryce and I’d imagine he’d be pretty cheap considering he’s sucked the last 4 years whenever he’s played

You've got to constantly invest in the OL. The mantra pay tackles, draft guards/centers is true for a reason. Every 2 years we should be investing a round 2 or 3 pick in a starting guard/center unless we hit an all pro guy. Center, I lean more towards keeping the franchise guy than rotating him out as long as the price tag come contract time isn't insane. Tackle needs to be a top investment every 4 unless we have bookends. At least one day 3 pick needs to go to a guard or tackle every year churning the backup positions. Almost 18% of our team is OL. Investing at least 1 pick a year is just good business. That roster area needs to constantly be churning to try and keep low cost, highest possible quality talent.

    • If you have watched Stroud the past couple of seasons, I think his confidence well has been leaking for some time now. If you look at his overall production it has decline year on year and he just doesn't look comfortable very often. Some of that is loss of OL but it's not like he is getting David Carr'ed. This is the lowest sack rate he has had in his NFL career. It's hard to explain the absolute meltdown he had coming into the postseason. I haven't really seen anything like that other than Jake's one game meltdown and Carson Palmer's wild 2015 two game meltdown(6 TO's against us alone). Both of those QB's didn't last long as NFL starters after that. Not sure what will happen with CJ but I do genuinely question if he is mentally shot. Young's mechanics are unfixable because he(and his team/QB trainer) don't agree with anyone else on his footwork issues. They believe he is doing what will be successful for him.
    • Yes I do remember that. And people say the playbook is not limited.
