Do they practice down field throws at practice?

I have no way of knowing if they do or don't, i'm assuming they at least try to stretch the field. There is no indication during live games they do. It seems that the time to drill the twenty plus yard plays is during the week and try to get something to work.

Unless Young isn’t able to do it and fails constantly. I'm not privy to what they do at practice. Maybe somebody on here can give some insight into what they are doing.

Stretch the damn field and prevent opponents from stacking the line, or they are doomed to failure

If they do than Canales must be beside himself that he is stuck with a QB that can't. Trying to game plan with one arm tied behind his back. I want to see his offense with the full potential.

Yeah. I distinctly remember being apoplectic watching his first game vs Atlanta in 2023.
His lack of urgency on the drop and in general, and the lack of downfield throws were the two primary motivators for that.
I was against it but the hype on this board was so great, you couldn’t question him. Post draft, camp, preseason.

I had held my tongue until I saw him on the field in a real NFL game. Boy oh boy, total confirmation he was a huge mistake.

It hasn’t changed much. he hits a lick occasionally where he does well but it flatlines again pretty quickly.

The best memory of him that I have is that TD he threw where he knew it was good and turned around and didn’t watch it get caught. That is his high point.  It was so good that a lot of people lived on it and are still living on it.

At this point, I'm not sure we even practice at all with how unprepared we look most weeks... I think DC just gives them a "victory week" where they can all play Madden then show up Sunday morning and go through the motions

Canales addressed this in his presser the other day.

He said they will call more explosive pass plays in games once they can execute them in practice.

Bryce isn’t hitting them in practice so DC isn’t calling them in the game.

He is not capable of seeing the intermediate routes because he's too short and can't throw deep because he's too weak so he throws outside the numbers short but is too weak again so you get throws like that incredibly awful one on Sunday from a clean pocket. Dude is cheeks and Dave knew it after two weeks last year.
