Sigh…89 was a childhood hero but it’s hard to separate the player and the dickhead. But ive heard MJ and Kobe were assholes too so I guess I should just deal with it…

I have so many issues with this interview. He professes his innocence in fights as if he was simply stepping up against opposition and not taking cheap shots.

What about Ken Lucas, Steve? Swinging on a man taking a knee and not even looking your direction and you fracture his eye socket and buy him Dunkin donuts as an apology. Go fug yourself with your self-righteous bullshit.

He was a great player but he is an awful person. And he can lie to himself all he wants but when you carry yourself in public, on the field, and in your marriage this way? You aren't a good father either. Men lead by example and his example is dog poo.

I honestly wish Julius Peppers had gotten sick of some of Steve's bullshit and put him on his ass. Because I honestly think that was the one guy Steve wanted no part of.

But see, that's the difference between Pep and Steve, not to say Pep wouldn't win in a street fight.

Even listening to this interview in current day. Steve seems ready to take on, anybody, anywhere, at any time. Where Pep seemed like a gentle giant. The guys in that room were all solid hard nose defensive players, and basically almost cowered to Steve in that interview (no judgement there, who wants to fight when you're rich and mid 40s). He's just got some dark things that the typical man doesn't have inside and he talks about it a bit. But as someone said before...that's what made him 89 on that field.
