Bryce might be the most frustrating player we've ever had.

Moton would be gone by then, Ikey likely on a big deal and it's likely one or both of Lewis and Hunt will be gone due to finances or performance drops.

Mays will likely never see 6-8 mil/year here. He is a backup caliber player and has roughly the same valuation as BC. We should not be either relying on him as a long term starter nor paying him like one, as he is essentially a backup player. An extremely valuable one like BC but not one with a lot of free agency heat, I would imagine(like BC). You can't be paying backup IOL like starters. It's not smart.

Not that I want too, but I feel its coming down to either Icky&Mays or BY for the cap space..... Sportac has Mays sitting around 12 million per(o noes....maybe pass??) and Icky should be in around 24 million per as well.......future QB money..even for "bad" QBs could be in the 45 million range.....

To me it feels like the design is draft another QB on a rookie scale and roll with the young team that's close to 26 average(minus the STers). That's feels like the dynasty start.....just got to find that young QB to drive this team......(like 25 other teams....)

12 Mil would literally be the 6th highest paid center in the NFL. He is a backup. He is on a $3.4 mil deal and his utility might get him slightly more than that with us specifically but that's about it. If someone wants to pay him $6-8 mil, I would let him walk in an absolute heartbeat. For that price, get one of the good free agent centers available. Or, just simply draft another utility lineman. I like Mays well enough and would love to keep him but he isn't a long term starter and we shouldn't be paying him like one.

Ikey I am honestly unsure of the market on him. It could be wild or it could be less painful. Given what we have had to pay Brown and Horn recently, I suspect the Panthers bump means we need to open up the pocket book. That will hurt, no question about it.

The QB I hope they just throw some darts at the board and not go bananas. But the situation has to be improved.

The problem with Moton’s extension was that they put themselves in a no win position with whatever moves ended up making his cap # and dead cap # so disadvantageous. Boxed themselves in.
Probably looking at Fitterer I don’t remember.

Nope. Was Morgan this past off season. 2 year 44 million extension with 40 guaranteed and a 21.35 signing bonus.

I meant the spot they were in that necessitated addressing his contract. Before the extension he had an insane number I forget what it was.

His cap hit this year is now 23 and change. 2027 is 28m with a 13m dead cap if we cut him. Dayum.

I could get a lot of sushi with that kind of pocket change.

I am pretty sure it was worse before they spread it out. (Not trying to say it is good, just that they were way in a corner with the one year number and had to do something).

And statistically, though we are struggling with him recently, OT is a position guys stay good at into their mid 30s.

Just went back looking through threads and it was 29.7m this year before the deal. I'm all for paying tackles. It's when you lump in the guards I see problems on the horizon. IOL are guys that can be replaced in the draft pretty easily if you keep on top of it.

That part about tackles aging well, really just some blind optimism that somehow it works out where we aren’t completely screwed.

Do we have any big contracts that will be falling off the books anytime soon?

Moton’s lol.
I am not thinking so, or at least nobody jumps out. Big deals.

There are always guys that the deals were structured to get out of but who that we have signed for a lot, that we do not want to keep? DB and Horn on defense?

Chuba? Hunt? Whatever we are paying Corbett might be too much. Maybe in another year. Haven’t really looked.
