How about don't rush a very expensive player recovering from a bicep tear back?

Just get Mays healthy and Corbett is a very good OG.

This is the answer.

My feeling is that they may have rushed Brooks back a bit last year. Hard to say without knowing and different injury types/history/age, but I'd rather have a healthy Hunt for TB or 100% for the start of 2026 vs. re-injuring himself.

Corbett at OG is as good as a rusty Rob not at 100%.

You can disagree but I would suggest looking at recent games for Curhan.

I am not expecting the world, nor should any of us, but we also shouldn't be surprised when a PS player gets abused in games.

That's a very unsuccessful strategy.

To be clear, my standards for a backup aren't gonna be the same for a starter, especially against a tough opponent.

And I'd say my most recent impression is this: Bryce had a decent amount of time to throw on a lot of plays last game.

Run push? Definitely subpar, but Bryce didn't end up taking the sh-tload of abuse I was expecting him to take.

Yep, unless we're in a win and in situation in Week 18, I don't see any reason for Hunt to come back.

We have 4 games left, 2 against Tampa and 1 more division game. Pretty much every week is going to be huge for the playoffs. If Tampa wins while we are off, we will be 1 game back and pretty much be in must win mode all 4 games.

Zavala can only play decent if he's on the left with Ickey. From my untrained perspective Curhen is a better RG than LG.

Left guard is, per numerous football guys, the easiest position to play on the line.

If all you want is a backup left guard, okay.

If you want a Geoff Hangartner style utility guy, well...

Well versatile he's not. If he stays he will only be effective on the left it appears, if that.

I have a hard time thinking Zavala would be decent at LG when he has been straight ass at RG. He is slow off the snap, gets bull rushed easily, has terrible pass blocking footwork, and looks utterly lost as to who to block whenever the opposing Dline does a stunt.

Average-ish strength/athleticism combined with bad technique and awareness is not want I want to see from an offensive lineman...

His only decent games he had was when he played left guard last season. He's been straight up ass everywhere they put him this season.

Well the clear answer is just to get Mays healthy. Corbett isn't enough of a drop off from Hunt to risk Hunt's future with us.

The hiring of Joe Gilbert last year cannot be overstated.  Elite, what he's done with improving players and making chicken salad out of chicken poop due to injuries.

I think the part being overlooked is that they have a separate coach for the tackles and the interior oline. Its making a difference that I had dismissed as counter productive. What the hell do I know.

That is crazy.  I didn't know that.  Goodwin?  Who is coaching the tackles?  The interior?

I don't remember. It came up during training camp I think. I could have been last year. But they have 2 coaches for the oline. One for tackles and one for guards and center. I would have to look at the staff listing to get you their names but you can do that yourself.

    • ^I want that, but Rodriguez over KC. Don't hate KC as much at that spot, but rather take a WR with the pick we gain in that trade than in the 1st.
    • I think there is good points in this thread to what the team needs to do. 1) Ball isn't really the issue but, he needs reigned in.  Coach and he need to realize when things aren't falling from the three and learn to play other facets of the game.  He's an amazing talent and when he's on, he's on.  But he can also shoot you out of a game.  We're lucky Miami went that way but that is too many missed threes.  He still needs to bulk up if he can, but he needs to drive more.  He's pretty good at finishing usually and hopefully the fouls come (probably not though).   2) The whole team needs to be more physical.  As others have stated, we need more bulk in our bigs.  Diabate is a hurricane of energy but cannot go against the larger centers.  I love him on the team but he should be more of a match up type guy or energy off the bench.  I think he'd be insane off the bench.  However I think the biggest issue with Diabate and Kaulk is the lack of offensive game.  The lack of a jump shot or anything.  Teams figured out to just leave them on the screen and crash lanes.  There has to be some sort of threat.  We need a 4 and a 5 that can do those things and stretch out the court. 3) Bridges.  He's just undersized.  However, I feel he really threw his all into it the last few weeks when others were gassed.  He was ok not being a focal point.  I'd like to have him off the bench as well but I assume he'd be traded to make things work.  4) Miller.  Dude can light it up when on, but disappears for quarters at a time.  Also he needs to work on ball handling and passing.  He's a turnover machine at bad times.  Also hopefully over the injury so he can bulk up too.   5) Kon. Just a rookie.  Long season and back injury.  I have no doubt he'll be back stronger and focused.  Needs to work on defense and physicality like the whole team but yes, a rookie he'll get there. 6) Coby.  Has to be resigned, no question.  The bench lineup is rough without him running the point.  Team has big potential and the front office seems sharp.  They seen the hive and how crazy it got and how much the city wants this.
