2003 playoff Rams.

I knew they’d beat the Eagles after that performance but to take down the greatest show on turf in their house?

The 2003 win at Tampa.

It was their home opener following their Superbowl season, so banners were going up, rings were distributed, and they were opening up with a patsy team from some hick town in NC that was coming off another losing season, and still had 1-15 in recent memory.

The way the game played out was also shocking.

This 100%.

The "nobody saw this coming" game. Okay, Jake apparently believed it could happen.

My final answer is beating the Super Bowl champs on the road in San Fran as an expansion team in 95

That one shocked me too. I remember FOX playing James Taylor’s “ Going to Carolina” right after the game while the teams were shaking hands. I couldn’t believe we pulled that one off.

Nah. Panthers had nearly beat them the year before in Carolina with Randy Fasani at qb. They were built to beat that Bucs team.

The real shocker from that season was the colts. That’s when everyone realized the panthers were for real. Even had a last second field goal block for ya

That is an all timer there, for me. Kris Jenkins… beast.

There was a guy named Pantherfan or Panthersfan whom posted back then that was at that game and was preserved in a photo of the blocked XP or FG. In a crowd in the stands reaction shot.

He passed away maybe within a year or two, not that long after.  That picture is kind of his tribute. Or memorial.

I’ve seen that photo before but could never find it again when I try to google it

I am pretty certain I recall seeing that photo. I remember a blue Panthers jersey in a sea of red.

I think you have a very sepia-toned memory of that game. We had 4 turnovers, 130 total yards, and Fasani racked up 40-something yards passing. Sacks put the team passing yards to 20 that day. We complain now about Young having 150ish. His performance was so terrible, it spawned a phrase, Fasani Magic, that would have been a meme if memes existed then.

There was no nearly about that game.

Honestly, it's up there. Given our injuries going into the game and how the Rams had been playing I think virtually everyone being honest with themselves thought we were gonna get throttled.

Going into that game I think the vast majority of Panthers fans would've been perfectly willing to accept a competitive loss fully expecting another ass whooping along the lines of the Pats or Bills game.

Mud tinted because I was at the game.

Panthers were up 9-3 going into the 4th quarter. The play of the game was a pass to Warren sapp. As bad as fasani was (1/13 on 3rd down lmao) that was a winnable game with literally one play.

I was there too. At no point was it ever nearly a winnable game. The defense played well, and got turnovers. I will give you that.

    • No, both instances of references to the defense were specific to the run defense.  I should have said "run defense" the 2nd time.  You admit there has been ample personal issue but then use those stats to support your argument. I'm not arguing on the effectiveness of his specific scheme overall.  I'm saying he is only now getting the proper personal to run his scheme.  The stats are the stats and while I don't disagree with any of what you're saying, 3 years of those stats are based on the Panthers front office not giving him the tools to run a competitive NFL defense until this year with D. Brown getting healthy and the additional of Tre'von Moehrig. I want to see his defense when we don't have multiple key starter positions manned with players who would IMHO are not starting level players.  With some talent  I say all this while not being a big fan of his scheme.  I would prefer a 4-3 but that's neither here or there. And yes, I would call getting requests and interviews from other teams who want to hire him good evidence that he may be a pretty good DC and has a lot of potential as a HC. In 2022 he had HC requests from the Broncos, Colts, and Texans.  He also had requests for DC from the Vikings, Falcons and the Panthers.  We hired him to be our DC. In 2023 it was the Falcons, Raiders and Seahawks for a HC position. In 2024 the Falcons, Seahawks and the Panthers interviewd him for HC.  We blocked the Jags from a DC interview. In 2025 (which is this years hiring cycle) so far its the Falcons, Raiders and just today the Steelers, all for the HC position.
    • The Giants still may be crap but they just improved somewhat by hiring Harbaugh,
    • Yeah I was almost going to mention the finger but he did so well last week after whatever they did to it at halftime I let it go. It could get hit and messed up worse, it is a weak point.    Weather and home field crowd in Chicago are huge challenges no doubt. I can’t really be confident in LA but the inexperience of Chicago in a game with this stuff at stake is likely to be a factor, enough to make it hard to be confident in them. So who knows….
