We're kind of stuck in the situation.  I would brace yourselves for a Cardinals/Jags type path the next few seasons.

We're not stuck.

Stuck is when the guy shows just enough to keep faith with him.

We're way beyond that point. Move. On.

I mean, I don't think there is much chance of a "competition" anyway.

He is either gonna be the guy or they are gonna move on from him.

That's what I was referencing in the comment about John Fox.

Not a single one of us believed that Rodney Peete actually beat out anyone in a true competition. It was all just bullsh-t lip service from John Fox. Week 1 proved it... definitively.

Mind you, I don't think Canales would necessarily go that route. He'd likely just say "Bryce is the starter" and leave it at that.

He has been that guy the whole time, TBH.

Proved it several times previously.

I'm saying the team won't, even if some may think moving on should be done.  Which results in a similar 2026.  And depending on how that goes, we could end up in that type of spot.

I just don't see us moving on unless he completely falls out to finish the year.

Man…tough question….look at patriots with Drake Maye…do we hang on to Bryce and hope he becomes that?   Naw people…he won’t become Drake Maye ever.  I love my Panthers and want them to win a Championship….i just don5 think we will get there with Bryce at QB….keep searching till you get the QB that will get us there. Unless he pulls off some heroics in the playoffs…given he plays well enough to get us there…no to the 5th year and no extension.

I believe in giving rookies QBs and HCs three years unless the wheels really fall off, like Reich.
Canales is on year 2. Bryce is on year 3.
Yeah, he may have shown some improvement, very minor improvement, but he still hasn’t proven he is the long term options, which was what I was worried about last offseason.
We have literally seen everything Bryce can offer. The ceiling has been reached. Bryce isn’t gonna magically become something else.
Next year will be the same thing. Limited offense due to Bryce’s limits. We’ll lose games because of it and win games in spite of it.
Panthers need to move on.

We have also spent damn near every available resource we have to help him succeed and this is the result. It's not sustainable to keep a 100m offensive line and spend top picks over and over on offensive players, and RB contracts. When some of those pieces start falling away, we'll start seeing regression.

This is what people are not realizing with giving this dwarf QB a franchise deal.  When teams shell out that kind of cash for a QB you can't spend 150+milllion dollar line to protect his physical short comings.

Tepper is a moron when it comes to football apparently as we all can see by this point. I believe DM will unfortunately and stupidly pick up his 5th yr option. Season with BY will be a rinse and repeat cycle consisting of below average QB play through and through.

Anyone who doesn't believe BY is not a below average QB in the NFL at this point literally knows nothing about football as a sport.  Dude is not fooling me, he's shown me enough.

For people clamoring for Sam Howell please just STFU already.  You are obviously just UNC nut huggers because if you think BY turnover problems are bad Howells were even worse. He also looks like he has a serious learning disability and a smile only mother could love......

I'd agree

I'm not buying they are all in on Young. If they are we have bigger problems than a short qb.

I wouldn't necessarily say they're "all in" but I do think they're "in" 😕

(now I'm gonna sit back and watch to see who takes that line and makes it sound icky) 😒

I think they are hoping. Mainly because they have put themselves in a position to where they are kinda stuck. They've waited a year or 2 too late to hedge their bet. Now they are left with hoping the massive investment the made eventually nets them a decent qb. I am still amazed that these professionals haven't seen the need for a plan B in the qb room.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
