Panthers Leaders in Missed Tackles

Rozebum, Scott and Wallace expected but Horn has quietly become a somewhat of a defensive liability. He had been in our top 4 in Missed Tackles for two straight seasons now.

He has had more missed tackles this season than in his first three years in the NFL(22 Games Started).

Rozeboom was a desperation, stop gap pickup..but come on Jaycee

I'm not too concerned about that from Horn. If Jaycee is in a situation where he needs to tackle someone, he's probably in a bad situation to begin with. His job is to stop the reception from happening. Once it happens, I'm fine with the safeties cleaning up the tackling.

Yeah, never really expected Horn to be a Legion of Boom style DB.

His coverage is still pretty highly thought of, which is what they drafted him for. 

Among the corners, I hear Mike Jackson being talked about as the hardest hitter.

The thing that makes him stand out so bad is that he is just sprinting every single time and when he misses he’s not even close.

The guy is amazing at physical comedy. A modern day Buster Keaton.

Missing 25% of your tackle attempts is wild. 

You better be prime Deion Sanders in coverage to make up for that, not getting smoked to give up crucial 4th quarter TDs.

I mean, you can get away with a "straight line" style linebacker under some circumstances. 

I don't think we use him under those particular circumstances though, so...

That was one of the bigger knocks on him back in the day.

PSA: In the interest of clarity, the above reference is not meant as a direct comparison between Christian Rozeboom and Junior Seau.

A lot of Horns come in just 2-3 games the rest of the time the ball doesnt go his way much I will say i dont think many of his misses are in run support.... I feel its usually when hes shocked they threw it his way or missed a play on the ball

Or when we're playing the Saints

I don't believe he's had a bad season overall but the Saints (and especially Olavé) have kinda roughed him up.

I doubt it. I mean, the Chargers probably kept track of those types of stats at the time but I don't even know if they'd still have them at this point. There's just way more metrics being tracked these days than there were 20+ years ago. At least in terms of public availability. I'm sure all kinds of metrics were being tracked in the past but they just weren't publicly available.

Yeah, it wouldn't exactly have been Next Gen Stats back in those years.

Yeah, I think people are missing on that part when they are saying "no big deal."

Remember how often Donte Jackson got called out for this? Well....he has a lower missed tackle percentage over the past two seasons than Jaycee Horn does.

Make no mistake, this is not good.
