Cam on ‘The Bank’

Recommended Posts

I will forever hate TJ Watt for nuking his shoulder on purpose and changing the trajectory of this franchise for a decade.....FUG TJ WATT fwiw

To OP point "THE BANK" has to be rocking again this weekend.  Seahawks are beatable, we took it to the Rams, should've beat 49ers so I don't think it's crazy to think that Seahawks take us lightly and can get a huge W come Sunday.

It was always a matter of time with Cam’s playing style and a shorter shelf life than passers that protect themselves. I suppose Cam could have still been playing in 2028 ten years after the hit took place, but he would need to have evolved as a quarterback and become more of a passer than the dual threat maestro he was. It’s sad because it makes us think of what could have been, but I do feel it was always a matter of time until all the hits took their toll.

Cam's shoulder was already an issue in 2018, that was just the final nail in the coffin.  I think even before the injury they had to rest his should following the 2017 surgery, and Heinicke had to come on at least once to attempt a Hail Mary pass instead of Cam.  Cam was still effective as the offense relied less on deep throws and more on quick passes on short and intermediate routes which brought his completion percentage at its highest in career before the TJ Watt hit.

His injuries occurred from the pocket.

Watt may have re-aggravated the injury, but Cam's arm was never right after trying to make a tackle off of his own interception (that Kelvin Benjamin basically caused by giving up on a play) more than a year+ prior against the Chargers.

It happened in 2016 vs Chargers per Cam Newton himself.

His shoulder injuries did, im not as sure about his ankle injuries.  I think they were mostly when he was trying to take off out of the pocket.

Shoulder, yes, but my point was that his superman style was going to catch up on him. Players don’t take that kind of hammering and play twenty years. A true pocket passer that can protect themselves has a far greater chance of having a lengthy playing career.
