Best CB Duo in Panthers History?

Recommended Posts

I do realize that Horn has had some pretty underwhelming performances this season but this duo overall has played tremendously overall.

Jaycee Horn

58 Targets(3rd Highest on Team), 27 Completions for 438 yds, 6 TD's, 5 INT(Tied for 2nd in the NFL), 46.6% Completion Percentage for a 70.9 QB Rating Allowed. 8 Pass Breakups(2nd Highest on Team).

Negatives: Tied for team lead in penalties allowed, most TD's allowed through the area, 2nd most missed tackles and highest missed tackle percentage among starting players at 24.5%

Mike Jackson

90 Targets(Highest on team), 49 completions for 660 yds, 4 TD's, 4 INT(tied for 6th in the NFL), 54.4% Completion Percentage for a 74.3 QB Rating Allowed. 19 Pass Breakups(Highest in the NFL). Only called for 2 penalties(1 declined) this season.

Negatives: Most completions allowed on team, most yardage allowed on team

Overall, despite some hiccups, this duo has been absolutely stellar as a whole. Is it the best we have ever had?

Yes.  Horn has had a few little hiccups, but is still one of the very best in the entire league.  He's probably the best CB overall in team history.  Norman had the one great season, but was kind of just above average outside of that year.

Mike Jackson, on any given Sunday, is nearly as good, and on occasion better, than Horn.

I like Jaycee. The problem with Jaycee is he can be overly physical beyond the 5 yards and his speed is good but can be beat by a fast receiver. MJ is good too and better at pass break ups but sometimes has problems with close in speed (but that could be more Everos fault with his defensive scheme)

Tillman and Norman.

I agree.  I think our two outside guys look better this year because teams just pick on the middle of the field as well.  It's like when our pass defense looked ok last year because teams just ran on us.

It's hard to account for scheme. I think you default to ignoring it when you compare because sometimes those players were great in thoss schemes because they fit them perfectly(Norman being an example).
