The End of the Road for XL

Recommended Posts

So aside from the blatant NFL rigged bullshit, it does appear that the XL experiment is basically over.  I noticed XL was not on the field often after that first drive with a drop that while a hard catch, was catchable and needed.

XL's Snap couunt was down to 31%, just 16 offensive snaps.  Coker was at 92%, and Tmac was 88%.  For reference, Jimmy Horn Jr had the same amount of snaps as XL and coincidentally bryce had one of his better passing days of the season (Which was lost in the absolute clusterfug that was the officiating and terrible run game yesterday).

Also he was relegated to doing special teams...Ya know what happened to Chuba Hubbard when he was essentially benched earlier this season.

I think the XL Experiment is over.  I think its pretty obvious that in the offseason they will try to bring in another receiving option.  I dont think he'll be cut, but if a team comes offering a 4th or MAYYBE a 3rd for him, he's gonna be shipped in the offseason, so yea we might be stuck with Bryce for better or worse for a bit longer, but the Legette Project is pretty much done.

If we could swing a Mingo - like trade for him and get a 4th round pick it might be a heist.

We definitely could use a much better 2nd/3rd option at WR. A dude like Tedd Ginn Jr or Jameison Williams basically,  someone with crazy burners that opens up the offense.

We do have Jimmy Horn but Canales doesn't utilize him enough.

Traded up into the 1st for a 4th round developmental talent over Ladd McConkey, Zach Frazier and Cooper DeJean.

He may be our biggest 2nd WR blunder yet over DJ and Mingo lol

I'll continue to say, I dont think McConkey would have done well here.  Hes just not at all a scheme fit or a fit with our make a wish QB.  That said, XL is bad, doesnt matter scheme, hes just unplayable on any team.

DeJean and Frazier (among others too) though… they had their contingents (myself included). The team was so zeroed in on adding targets and we’ve barely used the two in R2 that draft (XL & Brooks) just crazy

He wouldn't have done as well as he has with the Chargers but he would be absolutely blowing past XL's production.

He absolutely does fit with what we do here.

He is exactly what bryce needs, a great route runner that is shifty

That 2024 draft is just comically bad in hindsight.

I mean, legit anyone off the street does more than what XL has done.  Brycen Tremayne, essentially a WR5 on anyone elses team has been more productive when on the field than XL.  he has only like 150 less yards than XL this season with like a fourth of the snaps.

And with excellent hands. He has a 67.9% career catch rate.

The logic to to get to him "not working out here" is nuts. He would literally work out on every offense in the NFL.

And Tremayne is also good at the ONLY thing XL is good at, blocking in the run game.

So, basically XL is a UDFA caliber player we took in the 1st. Unreal.
