The more interesting story re: Shockey

If I am not mistaken, this is the first FA the Panthers have brought in this offseason.

What do you think that means in regards to JR feeling the CBA will get done? Do you think JR would spend money to fly someone in if there was no chance of a deal being done soon?

You may be right. there are other players out there that we should have brought in like DT Shaun Rogers.

Having said that, the number of FA players that are touring around is small. Like 3 or 4 it seems, just the released players trying to get a deal signed before Mar 3. And those players are only visiting a few teams...

A personal friend of mine is a model who did some work with Shockey on his shoe ads. She said he was an absolute ass to her and the other ladies. I absolutely believe her.

yea this is why I don't think it would work, but I do agree that the timing is interesting. I just feel like Chud said, "Hey I've coached this guy before, lets see if he's got anything left in the tank."

Who cares. If he can make us a better football team than you bring him in. Nobody is trying to win a humanitarian award here and as long as he doesn't kill anybody he's fine.

Because team chemistry is huge, a poison like that may be talented but ultimately hurts the team.

If he was really that good he wouldn't be looking for his third team.

While he does have a strong personality to say the least, everybody knows things happen in this league. Sometimes teams find other options and decide to go in different directions that doesn't mean a player isn't any good.

and he's definitely better than anybody we have on our roster currently.

    • Some people will shift the goal posts but he does still have to consistently help the team win, eventually. Not only help but be the reason. That's what franchise QB's do.
    • One of the Carolina Panthers' newest defenders thinks their pass rush can go from worst to first. ESPN's David Newton recently chatted with outside linebacker Pat Jones II, who signed with the Panthers as a free agent earlier this offseason. Jones comes over from an awfully impressive Minnesota Vikings defense—one that ranked first in takeaways (33), fourth in sacks (49) and second in QB pressure rate (44.4 percent) this past season. And despite a historically-bad campaign by Carolina's defense in 2024, the 26-year-old seems to believe his new unit can be similar—or even better—than his last. "I definitely think we could do something similar, if not better," Jones said, via Newton. "I've seen it before, so I know what it looks like. I look around the building and see we have exactly what it takes to do that." https://pantherswire.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/panthers/2025/05/24/panthers-pat-jones-vikings-espn/83840667007/?taid=683219b347846900018fa10a&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=trueanthem&utm_source=twitter     It's the offseason.  Let hope spring eternal. (actually, I think we are much closer than this board thinks)
    • 5 total TDs against the Falcons was pretty good efficiency and he showed that ability to go off scripts and get 2 of those TDs rushing.  How many times did he deliver big time throws against pressure.  I agree we need to see this offense operate at high efficiency which starts with Bryce. When he does I hope the goals posts won’t shift to some other stat like QB sneaks lol
