Maybe it’s just me, but I’m wondering why we aren’t playing him more snaps?  I have loved flashes I’ve seen from him throughout the season, and he flashed a couple times Sunday.  I would love to see him get more of Wonnum’s snaps opposite Scourton.  I really think the future is bright for both of them.

He is very raw and has made a ton of bad mistakes over the course of the year. He has definitely also shown flashes of greatness. Pretty much what I expect out of a third rounder

I agree, we don't need to draft another young edge rusher to add to this group, even a 1st rounder as we'll now be late in the round too.

Biggest FA contract should go to the best pass rusher we can sign, use that 1st on a LB or S

Depends on who is there. The EDGE/DE group looks pretty top heavy and it's unlikely they last until we pick.

But, the group overall is extremely bad so adding depth isn't a bad thing.

We need one elite, near elite guy to at least prop the group up.

I looked at Evero's career stats and the highest his defenses have ever finished in Sacks is 23rd.

2025: 28th

2024: 29th

2023: 32nd

2022: 23rd

He also hasn't had a good front 7 pass rush three of those years (and the 2022 Broncos pass rush wasn't particularly talented either outside of Chubb).

Cover 3 zone (Evero's primary zone) usually leaves underneath routes open, so QBs will usually have that checkdown option with the DC's hope that somebody then steps up to make the tackle for a short gain. Think of our Seahawks game - while the Seahawks didn't get a ton of sacks, Bryce got baited into the checkdown and the Seahawks wrapped up and tackled the RB/TE almost immediately every time for practically no gain.

Unfortunately for us, half of our starters are rocking missed tackles rates that makes me want to vomit, so those 2 yard checkdowns to RBs turn into 10 yards in a hurry.

Well he did have Brown and Burns in 2023. I realize that version of Brown was absolutely nothing like this version.

I do think it is some of both. He hasn't had the talent but his schemes also don't result in effective QB pressure.

True, but teams also 1) didn't need to pass on us because they could run it away from DB, and 2) our offense was so putrid that other team just started from inside our 30 yard line half time game (and again just ran it against us).

Let's also not forget that Burns was a PFF darling because he had a good pass rush win rate. What those stats don't tell us is that the dude had oven mitts for hands and missed the sack on the QB like 80% of the time

True but he actually did speed up the QB's decision making process. We literally don't field a single player that can do that on even a relatively consistent basis.

Nic Scourton led our team in Pressures in 2025 with 15. That is tied for 80th in the NFL.

Burns career low in pressures(even lower than his rookie season) was playing in that Evero defense.

Well, technically it's QB but I do agree an elite pass rusher is absolutely critical. We cannot keep being one of the worst pass rush teams in the NFL.

I have dismissed thinking QB--it seems our strategy is to build around this QB instead of getting an elite one.

I get the mindset but we don't have to have our heads in the sand, even if the organization does.

Remember how much slander birds got for taking pierce and walker.

I dont like them having a better pass rush than us.

For as stacked of an EDGE/DE class as 2025 was supposed to be, the early returns were very paltry. Only Pierce really produced at a high level. I was surprised more of that class didn't have a bigger initial impact.
