Rashid Shaheed signed a one-year, $5.2 million extension with the Saints in July 2024, keeping him under contract through the 2025 season with a $1M signing bonus and $4.2M base salary in 2025, before being traded to the Seahawks at the 2025 deadline, making him an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2026.
 

His initial deal was a 2-year, $6.185M contract with $1M guaranteed through 2025.

Strengths:

• Reliable Hands: Showcased impressive ball skills with zero drops over recent seasons, even making contested catches.
• Efficiency: Finishes high in metrics like yards per route run, demonstrating effective production when targeted.
• Undrafted Gem: A significant value find for the Saints, proving overlooked prospects can excel. 

 

 

Areas for Improvement:

• Size/Blocking: At around 180 lbs, he's smaller and less effective as a blocker, which limited his snaps in New Orleans compared to bigger receivers.
• Route Running: Needs to develop cleaner routes and better consistency in intermediate areas to earn more targets beyond deep shots.
• Consistency/Role: Often a "boom-or-bust" or situational player due to volume fluctuations, needing more consistent targets to reach WR1 status. 

 

 

Role/Projection:

• Schematic Weapon: Stretches defenses, creating space for other players and opening up the run game, making offenses more efficient.
• Fantasy Profile: A high-upside FLEX or WR4, capable of winning weeks with big plays but dependent on volume and quarterback play.

Absolutely would love this pickup.

However, he may opt to stick with the Seahawks since they actually win.

As an elite field stretcher AND top shelf returner, he will have a ton of suitors. 

 

Edit: I will caution that we ask our WR's to run block a LOT. Same issue that cost him snaps in New Orleans.

I'd love this pickup.  A big upgrade from JHJ.  Cade Otton from Tampa would be another nice upgrade.  He is scheduled to be a FA and Canales has already worked with him in Tampa.  

LB, Edge, FS, and now OL should be big priorities this offseason.

This is one WR I wouldn’t mind slightly overpaying for. He covers several holes on the team. He’s Ted Ginn jr. with good hands. Hopefully we overlook his blocking inability. The positives far exceed the negatives.

Yeah he would be perfect, that would be an amazing pickup and would fit perfect in the role we need. With that being said I highly doubt he hits free agency.

Yeah, I think he stays with Seattle. You don't trade for a guy midseason and then let him walk in the offseason unless he was a disaster.

Love the idea and the player, he is literally exactly what we need to fill a couple of roles but it's highly unrealistic.
