This is a drop.

Edit: it doesn't matter if it's the most perfectest throw, this is catchable. Or it looked like it live and looks like it here.

Honestly don't think it could have been much better now that I look at it. Receiver had time to gather himself and decide how he wanted to catch it, and then proceeded to let it go through his hands. He could have come back to it, he could have slid and bodied it, he could have caught it with fingers pointed down, so many options. I mean the QB could have put it out in front of him and maybe he would have had to speed up, reach out away from his body, dive, or jump for it. None of that. Just slow down and catch the ball.

the real sin here is.....

game on the line.  4 downs.  We didn't get one ball to the hands of Tmac or Coker.  That's a choice.

final play and we are going to Jimmy Horn Jr?

Losing is fine.  Not catching the ball is fine.  Going to down swinging and not taking a swing w/ the dudes he got you there is the sin.  And it's a choice made.  I could live w/ 89 not catching a ball in double coverage to win the game.   You got to go to the dudes that matter in the big moments.

I put that sad final drive on both Dave and Bryce

Given it's rookie Jimmy Horn Jr who probably caught 4 balls all season downfield....throwing it down and behind him probably does matter.

It's the whole Bryce conundrum.  His role is to lift boats.  Instead it's the rookie who doesn't really get passes needed to make all the adjustments.

I'm just as tired as watching Bryce as anyone.  But that loss is more on Dave than anyone.

I think Dave is horrific in big moments.  But you can't excuse Bryce from that final drive.   And I mean, Bryce played a great game for Bryce.  I'm not trying to overly bash him.  He gave us way more than he generally does.

But if we are talking any other QB in final drive scenario......not moving the ball one inch w/ 4 downs is going to be a QB convo to some extent.

It was kind of the opposite of a lot of "good" Bryce games.  He does nothing until the end of the game, and we somehow win the game.  This game he was pretty good for most of the game and did nothing on the final drive.

there were really 2 games this season where Dave and Bryce were pressed to the move the ball with a legit time constraint forced on them.....both times, the ball never moved an inch in 4 downs.

Dave Canales needs every single rep he can get next preseason.  He he needs to quickly move on from his mindset last year that he has arrived and doesn't need work.

I’d point to the Rams win and those two 4th TDs but I am sure there is plenty of poo you can point to as well.

Whatever game it was with the clusterfug last second FG miss would suffice. Where it was so rushed and the kicker slipped.

Mixed bag.

Edit. Saints game maybe, for that rushed FG blunder. Was that 1st half? My memory sucks… Some other end of 1st half stuff fits.

Yeah the same thing that happened Saturday happened another time. Want to say maybe it was the Saints too.

It's weird. Game on the line, Bryce would force it to AT.  He refuses to do that to Coker or TMac it seems.  And I think at times you need to let your playmakers make plays

frank, that ball was very catchable where it hit his hands. I don't even think he bent at waist until after he dropped it. He actually slows his pace to position himself to catch the ball. That will never be a pass I'd blame on the QB.

Someone has already circulated the zoomed in picture and the ball is at his knees.

I would have liked Horn to haul in that pass just as much as anyone else. But the throw absolutely could have been better. I'll never agree with anyone that says there was nothing wrong with the throw. The lack of consistent ball placement has been a point of contention here and for good reason.

Regardless. I don't necessarily fault Horn here because as I said in previous posts he never should have been in that position. Whether it's Canales or Bryce that drive was unacceptable. We had 3 timeouts a decent amount of time to try and get in field goal range and we failed in pitiful fashion. Unacceptable.

Well we better get used to this because Bryce just got a lot more expensive so we aren't going to be able to surround him with elite players who are perfect at all times and never make mistakes.

I guess the 4th year gives him a raise but not huge.
If the 5th year money is not guaranteed, neither is the job. He can be traded. If it is guaranteed, trade is not good but 13.25 mil in 2027 and again in 2028 is the price.
Someone said 5th year is not guaranteed like the first 4, I haven’t looked into it.

This isn’t really out of hand yet to the point it hampers us in a disastrous way. When they give him a new contract? That is when poo gets too real.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
