Rags pulling Panarin off the ice until the Olympic break "for roster reasons."

Anyone hearing anything, while I really hope the Canes are not involved?

Really hope not. A 34-year old winger on the downside of his career is not what I envision.

Unless it’s cheap. He is only 2 years from 100 point season and plays 200 feet.

A 100 point season elsewhere translates to an 80 point season under RBA.

No question he's racking up points, but look at the Rangers and, specifically, his line. JT Miller, 32, $8M AAV for another 4 years beyond this. Trocheck, 32, $5.65M AAV for another 3 years. Zibanejad, 32, $8.5M AAV for another 4 years....

Thanks, but I'll take a 27-29 year old with an upside. 

Matter of fact, get Schmaltz from Utah for the next 2C. Watch him tonight. He's a UFA after the season, but Utah is in the playoffs right now.

My gut tells me it’s going to either Robert Thomas or Troch. Would love both somehow.

Canes are talking to the Rangers about both Trocheck and Panarin.

Reports are Panarin is actively engaging with Washington, and has contacted the 3 California teams (Ducks, Kings & Sharks).

Carolina's interest in Panarin remains internal front office discussion and the 2 teams have not specifically addressed him. 

Leades me to believe Trocheck might be the real target.

I'd be okay with bringing back a 32 year old if NY retains about 25% of his salary. Otherwise, I'm looking more long-term and would appreciate a younger guy who will be around for a minute. 

Tro is under contract at $5.625M AAV through the 29-30 season. Canes get him at $4M and not have to give up the farm, I'm okay with it. You gotta know he's probably not here but for 2, maybe 3 years tops.

Never been a fan of getting a 2-3 year guy and giving up a 5-6 year guy.
