You know how much poo I got for this?  It's the same damn record, we just went into the playoffs on a tiebreaker.  Yay, we made the playoffs and got bounced while missing out on a generational draft pick!  Yippe!!!

That’s funny. I didn’t get much poo for what I said. 😂 I got no attention really on it until now.

I am all for the playoffs but those other teams were just as good on the year as we were. A flukey hot streak finish by Atlanta, which was a hell of a job, is why we lost our way into the playoffs.

I like to really earn it. It feels like you deserve it. And picking lower is worth it.

The way we went in feels like they threw a bridal bouquet in the air and the girl they threw it to dropped it. Our clumsy ass had fallen to the floor lunging for it, it was dropped right into our hands. Elohel

It does say a lot about the guys on the team that we showed up for that WC game. I guess that is our prize.

For me it would be like getting underwear at Christmas.  Sure you probably need it and it will be extremely useful but there is no wow factor.

Definitely not arguing with you.  Just my .02

I get it.  It would have to grow on you, but if we address a few needs in free agency, I could love it.

We were excited about Styles I think, in the moment. Already hyped from his interview following his meeting with Morgan, and he flat tears it up at the combine. Without going back to look, I think that was it.
And us wanting a LB. He started looking pretty good to me and we have no shot at him. That’s the context.

If he lasts if hes generational when making the playoffs was the best thing that happened to this franchise for near a decade

"Making" the playoffs.  It felt more like a participation trophy.  If the NFL went away from the stupid division winners automatic bid and went strictly by best records (like most sports), the Panthers wouldn't have sniffed the playoffs in that scenario.

Rich Eisen said he's never in his 22-years at the Combine seen a prospect like Sonny Styles.  Also Bailey ran a 4.5 flat.  So my early two draft crushes are crushing the Combine and are now completely out of the Panthers reach.  Bailey might be a top 5 pick now.  Styles won't drop past the top 10.

I really prefer EDGE in FA than draft, but this man here is going to light up Sunday's for some team. Whoooo.

I've been confused for awhile why this guy is being considered a mid-round pick by virtually everyone. His measurables with 17 sacks over the past two seasons (8.5 in each) usually puts you at least in 1st round considerations and pretty much a lock to go in the 2nd.

    • Miller being less raw and more pro ready makes sense of why they picked him. With us having a capable starter in Walker the lower floor higher ceiling player makes sense for us as well. I agree with that.
    • I'm from Michigan and have had this discussion with my Lions friends, and they all agree with me, they were never going to take Freeling over Miller.  As, yes, you are correct, they could have left Sewell at RT and taken Freeling, but they are in a SB contention window right now. An OL with Freeling at LT and Sewell at RT is not as strong as Sewell at LT and Miller at RT would be for this upcoming season and likely at least next year as well. 5 years it could be looked back upon as a long term "mistake" to take Miller over Freeling, but for a franchise like the Lions, you can't worry about the long term when you have current SB aspirations.  It's all about maximizing their current SB window over the next 1-3 years. And it's not about style, it's about day 1 readiness, and a lot of "experts" aren't even sure if Freeling is ready to play Week 1 yet at the position he's used to, let alone switching to a side he hasn't played before, but a career starting RT is going to be more than ready to fill that role for them Week 1. I'm 100% convinced that if our draft positioning was swapped, we'd have still taken Freeling, they'd have still taken Miller, and both teams would have got the OT that they preferred due to what each team needs right now and what their current realistic aspirations are for the 2026 season. We're in a position where we can let our drafted OT sit and learn for a bit, they needed a week 1 starter, for me that's where this discussion becomes very easy to understand why each team took the player they did.
