Baldinger on the 2026 LB Class

I want an ILB this year. And I really like seeing what Brian Baldinger thinks. He was killing it on Derrick Brown this year. Last year.
He is apparently is going through every position for pre draft evaluations.
This is video of his ILB evaluation. Put other videos here too if you want.

It is.  Even the mid to late round guys are super appealing and would have been ahead of Trevin in his drafft.

Deontae Lawson - just look his stuff up, lot's to like

Jimmy Rolder - absolute force.  Limited sample size but the sample is pretty dope.  (one of my favorite sleepers)

Keyshaun Elliott - stud run defender, great size/length, is always wrapping plays up, high IQ.

Even this dude Owen Heinecke is an interesting guy.  Not some dog in the middle but will absolutely be an asset for particular teams (I.E. Minny would be an awesome fit)

Good chance we have a choice for pick of the litter at ILB or DT in round 1. I think Styles is ultimately a 4-3 OLB in the league.

There is a rumor we might switch to a 4-3 because Phillips and Scourton can easily play DE there and Wharton and DB can be the DTs.  Lloyd can play either and Wallace might be better in a 4-3.  Not that it really matters as we are constantly changing up our formations throughout the game.  Canales mentioned something about changing the defensive front which is where these rumors started.

I hope we do switch; I'm tired of being gouged in the run game. Although, I like DB more as a 3-tech than a nose.

The team doesn't have enough off the ball lbs to switch to 4-3 base. As a matter of fact they don't have but 1 off the ball startling worth a contract. Dan has some work to do.

Wallace, Lloyd, and a draft pick (hopefully Rodriguez) would be your LBs in the 4-3.  Wallace is a bit undersized in the 3-4 and is decent at coverage.  Again we have a NB in most of our plays so it will be Lloyd and Wallace/draft pick on the field a majority of the time.  We are almost certainly double dipping at LB with Lloyd and a draft pick this offseason.

4-3 conversion would give us a big need at LB, but would cool me down on DT. Brown, Brown, Wharton, and Jackson for two spots looks way better than the same for 3 spots.

Like I said, those 2 are not cut out for MLB or WLB in a 4-3 base defense. You certainly will have to double dip if you are going to switch. You will need to get a MLB for sure because Lloyd is the weekside backer. You need a middle linebacker from the draft and better depth behind him. Wallace is a backup to Lloyd. Rodriguez is better suited for ILB in a 3-4 base. Its a minor difference but it does matter.

I think Rodriguez works there. He is a little undersized for 3-4 honestly and TT ran a 4-2-5 which is really what we ran the most last year and will be running this year. Technically in our 3-4 Wharton wasn’t a starter but when healthy he had plenty of minutes due to us using 4 DL fronts a lot. Lloyd and Rodriguez would be solid starters with Wallace as the depth or coming out when we actually are in a 4-3. 4-2-5 is what you are really wanting your roster built for. We are almost certainly drafting a ILB this draft whether we change or not also.

This is the draft to get a good ILB. I agree with Baldy about Rodriguez. He's definitely the best one in this draft. He could definitely start day 1 and I would love to see him in a Panthers uniform.

I was told by some huddle geniuses that we were no where close to the correct personnel to play 4-3
