Wow, that's a big setback for the owners... if they don't have that TV revenue coming in they can't afford a lockout either.

I'd be hard pressed with just a couple billion and no new revenue, too.

Not sure how this is great. It just makes sure that things stay in court while this thing drags on and they appeal. Unless you are lawyer who stand to make millions as they keep fighting this out.

Brian Murphy of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports that Judge David Doty has ruled that the NFL violated the Collective Bargaining Agreement by striking deals with television networks that require ongoing payments to the league during a work stoppage.

Judge Doty has ordered another hearing to determine whether the players’ remedy will be financial damages or an injunction preventing the league from pocketing the money during a lockout.

Why's it important? Because owners who have HUGE debts service on stadia--Snyder in Wash, McNair in Hou, i.e.--can't tap into big TV dough.
