As full season starters, Manning's highest was 64.2 during his sophmore year. Tom Brady's was 62.8. Drew Brees' was 63.4.

yeah. and before people bring up checkdowns: Gabbert threw more checkdowns and had a lower %.

Meh.. I get this argument I guess. I just wish that people would use examples from people who don't play in the WAC.

You don't think there's a reason neither of those guys were ever considered day one prospects? Newton is rated so highly for more reasons than his statistical output.

If you had read the thread, you would have seen that I was responding to people bringing up Scam's stats as a reason to draft him. That was the point, that college stats mean poo. Especially one season's worth.

What matters is being able to read defenses (he can't) having good footwork (he doesn't) being able to make all the throws (no dice) and having a good head on your shoulders (sorry :()

I think it's reasonable to assume the Panthers would really like to draft a franchise QB with that # 1 overall pick. I don't think they're much concerned with whether or not the fanbase would accept drafting Cam with the # 1 overall pick.
