Rivera Hitting Road For Newton

and for the record, not everything is a smokescreen, most of you use this term so loosely that you are forgetting that their our 7-10 players that the Panthers are targeting with the #1 pick, how that is a smokescreen baffles me. Fact is, we seriously need a QB, I don't get why Newton or Gabbert are not in the mix according to you, because YOU think they are not worthy of the #1 pick? We really don't know who is really worthy of the #1 pick

Yea you're right about that. We have no idea and it could end up being some nobody who gets drafted in the 6th round or not at all. If the 2001 draft could be done over again who wants to bet Tom Brady goes #1.

There's a lot more to drafting a player at the top of the draft than his raw talent, college stats and personality. You've gotta look at your team, coaching staff, and the situation you're bringing him into, and measure if what he has to bring fits with what you've got.

Cam newton could bring us a three headed rushing monster

I don't think so. I would honestly be worried if we started using him as a major part of a rushing attack... If we draft him, I want him to be our quarterback for the next decade, not half of that time due to injuries.

I agree but, if you watch his game film of him running he slides alot more than he takes a hit.

He was slow getting up just taking hits from Oregon defenders. If college kids can hurt him that much, what will happen in the pros?

If he comes here, they need to minimize his running as much as possible.

He was slow to get back up,but make no mistake about it that was a championship game. The fact that he did get back up should be a good thing not he didn't get up as fast as we'd like. I know alot of knocks on quaterbacks is to play through the pain(see cutler)and because he got up slow its bad?
