Successful QBs in the NFL with Limitations but the "IT" factor

Trying to think positive. List the QBs in the NFL who really weren't that good but they had IT.

I thought of three to start:

Joe Namath, Jets 1969 or so : Most people think of him as an great QB, but a careful look at his numbers tells you otherwise. Compared to Cam, I see a lot of similarities, starting with the state they played college ball in.

Jim McMahon, 1985: Very limited QB with a great defense behind him, but at the time, I thought he was great. He was not great. Just a gritty leader.

Jake Delhomme Without his passion for the game, fire, and leadership, he was not a very good QB, was he?

Problem with the whole premise is that Newton is raw but more athletic than everyone on that list with the exception of Randall Cunningham. He has it and his potential is very high. Many of these guys had limited physical skills. That doesn't describe Newton at all.

Actually, this thread is to give hope to the "haters" (wrong word-correct name should be "conservative thinking realists") as a consolation in the event the franchise takes the biggest risk in team history.

Frankly, I think Hurney will stand in there and not let a rookie defensive-minded coach tell him to take a risky QB. When he is offered several picks, we drop a few spots and the crisis will be wisely avoided.

Part of the point. Since when have 40 times and broad jumps meant anything? Since they started televising the combine.

Washington had a bunch of them, since you mention Rypien. Schraeder, Williams, Jurgenson (do not remember him, but heard he was fat), Kilmer, Theisman. they all seemed to succeed.

Tom Brady, a 6th round draft pick who was 8th on the Depth Chart at Michigan, rail thin without a fantastic arm coming in to the league, who through sheer work, grit and bitterness became the best NFL QB in the 00es, perhaps ever

Jake Delhomme actually had a set of particular skills(lol) to go along with his "it" factor. Unfortunately his talent faded faster than his heart did.
