Matt Moore...

This hasn't really been discussed much from what I can tell so I thought I'd throw it out there since with the Lockout (to my understanding free agency/trading cannot be done-I may be wrong, not 100%). But let's assume Smith, Gettis, LaFell along with Shockey are our starters outside and we bring back DeAngelo.

With that group of players around him and what seems to be a more competent coaching staff as well as an offense that isn't as predictable as a Jr. High's would it be a safe assumption to say he could look pretty good? I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not the tail end (4-1) of 2009 was a fluke...Our offense seemed so much more open than this past season, or maybe I'm going crazy. Could be both.

But with a legit star in Smith forcing defenses to still shift coverage even though he's older, an above average versatile TE who can work the middle as well as spilt out out to the slot. Two big receivers Gettis (6'3 with track speed), and LaFell (6'2 a more balanced receiver with big play ability) to go with what's already a good rushing game, I feel reason to be cautiously optimistic if he ends up being the starter Week 1, (whenever that may be).

After the debacle last year it is difficult to be that optimistic without a good reason. Once the CBA is settled and training camp begins, we can get a look at this new offense. Then I might mister some excitement. Until then who knows if Moore will even be on the team come June.

I would be willing to give him a chance.

On top of a poor running game, he was also a victim of shotty play calling.

Refer to the Giants game on the goal in three different instances.

The poor guy was just trying to make something happen, can't really fault him for that.

I wouldn't hate Moore being brought back, but I can't stand this notion that he's somehow still in line to be our long-term starter. At best he's a stop-gap if/when Clausen struggles. If we draft Newton/Gabbert I seriously doubt he's re-signed.

People have a lot of faith in the idea that a new offense is somehow going to translate into Clausen or Moore suddenly turning into pro bowlers. Look at the QBs in the NFC south now. Without good QB play we will be at the bottom of the conference for a while.

    • That does sound familiar. Those fans are deep. In snow lol. you don’t want to be up there in January.   I would think they have probably seen it all. Except what…  the championship? Gotta feel for them.
    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired (or out) after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
