Newton > every QB on that list but Luck...

if you really think Newton, passing wise, is better than Cousins, Barkley or Jones you are really hanging on his nuts.

EDIT: tbh none of the QBs in this years draft are better than the four I mentioned, and there are at least two mroe QBs who could enter next year's draft still better than them.

I really don't believe any QB in this draft is worth the 1st overall.

hi

if there is no football in 2011 we don't have the first pick, there was a thread about this yesterday.

No one knows yet how the 2012 draft will work, if there even is one. The CBA provided rules for the draft immediately following the end of the agreement (this one) but had nothing in the way of rules or guidelines for 2012 if there is no football. There have been conflicting reports that it will either a) revert to the previous years draft order, b) be based on the previous 3 seasons W-L records or c)not exist at all and all college players (underclassmen included) would be eligible free agents.

hm, really? wow.

C sounds kinda bad, i mean any talent can go to any team.

Look, there's nothing that shows this lockout will last that long. I still have faith that there will be a season next year. It's just in nobody's interest for there to be a full lockout. Given this uncertainty, why would you put all your eggs in one basket, hoping that Luck will

a) declare

b) be good next year

and c) assume that there won't be a season next year?

Say you're deciding between Cam and Dareus. If you buy into Cam but think that Luck would be better, do you draft Dareus? Hell no! Why not? Because what if either a, b or c doesn't happen? What if we're just not in the position to draft Andrew Luck - the best prospect since Elway in 2012? Now you've missed out in your franchise QB in Cam Newton.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, let's not get too cute. There are too many variables out there for the panthers to form such an elaborate plan. Forget about next year's draft, just focus on this one.

I don't care what year Luck declares. We'll bide our time, losing every game that isn't locked out, and just when Luck thinks we've forgotten all about him.. boom! HAHAHA! I can see it now. You thought you could avoid us eh Mr. Luck? What's that? You want to go back to school and get your masters? To late for that! Now get out there and throw that pigskin. I don't care if you think we're terrible... get! Ah it will be a proud day for us all.

Only kidding jeez

If we can get a second rounder this season and a first next season to trade down, do it. Then build the D. If the offense continues to struggle (do you really think a rookie QB was fairly evaluated in this mess-10 games and you are ready to throw him out? Really? Are you that good at evaluting potential?) after bringing in a veteran and Moore to compete with Clausen, then you make the franchise qb move. You have 2 first rounders, both probably low picks because Cam will struggle too. Trade them to move into the top 3, where you are certain to get Luck, Landry Jones, or the kid from USC. This way we find out of Clausen was just a product of his environment and we give Moore a fair shot and if all else fails, a veteran can lead us for a year.

And we get a DT, DE, and a CB in the first 65 picks of this year's draft. If we have the #7 and #13 picks in next year's draft, for example, would the team picking first or second, a team with multiple needs, not take them to trade down? I think so. Then we get a QB.

Take cam now, and you are paying full price for a car so you can garage it, make repairs and fix it. Either way, our franchise QB takes the field in 2012.
