In the same interview during which (as Rosenthal pointed out earlier) Ravens cornerback Domonique Foxworth said that the players are fine with never being a union again (it’s impressive that he has been able to ask all of them that question), Foxworth explains that “we’ve expressed that we’re ready to begin talks as soon as they’re ready.”

Players do not get paid during the off season. Their base salaries are paid with what we know as "game checks" and they collect those either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, depending on their team.

Players are paid during the regular season per their contract salaries. The league pays players their playoff salaries as established each year. For example, the Colts received $73k per man and the Bears received $38k per man in their 2007 Super Bowl.

Don't forget that players also have incentives built into their contracts, some of which are related to the post season.

But, the reality for NFL players- there is no steady paycheck from Week 17 through September of the next season.

Antonio Pierce described the entire player pay system at length on ESPN Radio a couple weeks ago- interesting.

    • I turned to the NFL Network and they are playing the Wildcard Game against the Rams I think we gained a lot of respect around the league we hung in there for a while into the 4th Quarter 🙂
    • Does anyone know for sure if the game tonite will be on HBO max?  That is where I watched the last one and only access I currently have- I am in SE NC and no broadcast stations carry the games.😖
    • take a  look around the league at other young Qb's such as Drake Maye , Jayden Daniels, Bo Nix , CJ Stroud  & Caleb Williams who at the time like Bryce Young they also were drafted by teams with a losing record .the only difference with these Qb's is after joining their teams with a losing record they led those same teams to a winning record in a very short period of time .it's simply what you call a game changer & or elite Qb's & then take a  look at  the other side of the coin you have Qb's such as Trey Lance, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Justin Fields  & Anthony Richardson also like Bryce Young all first round picks who instead of winning either did not play or led their teams to a losing record while playing  Bryce Young who has an overall record of 14-30 & wildly inconsistent & never in the history of the NFL has a Qb 5'10" or shorter had a successful carrer as Qb in the NFL  if anything history is telling you exactly what ?..just saying
