Of the current backup QBs in the league...

...which one do you find the most interesting that could really be a great QB with a new team?

I ask this because other than finding a QB through the draft, this is of course our other option. Now, I don't even care if they're available, but who out of the 32 teams backup QBs is gonna become a solid starting QB?

My choice: Matt Flynn

Now, people may shoe him away as a flavor of the month type guy, but consider what he did to the Patriots last season and additionally having both McCarthy & Clements helping him out with Rodgers at the helm. I think Flynn is getting some damn good experience with an offense that is the type that of course won the super bowl. And the guy is only 25.

When I look at this draft class and then consider the utter crap that is the QB-FA list, it just makes me laugh. If I'm a new coach with Carolina, you basically will be expected to catapult this offense. I wouldn't trust some old potential wash up vet or an extremely inexperienced rookie from a poor QB class. I'll admit the transitional approach with both a vet & a rookie could possibly work (and I'm not necessarily against it), but if I think there is someone currently in the league that can be our offensive general, I say go after him. This is how Green Bay found Favre, the Texans found Schaub, the Chiefs found Cassel, and Hassleback got to the Seahawks to name a few.

This is wishful thinking on my part and I'm sure many will disagree but decided to give it a whirl ;)

So, who's already in the league that can be that franchise QB?

I haven't seen enough of Flynn to be comfortable with him... honestly I think Kolb might be the best backup in the league right now, but I'm not very interested in him either.

If you consider McNabb a backup at this point, then I would say McNabb.

Would love to see Moore do well, Flynn, Kolb, maybe Orton. I know Orton is not a backup, but he'd be good too. I've seen enough of Kolb and Flynn to be comfortable with them. I watched almost the whole game when Flynn played, he did a great job in relief of Rogers.

Not such a huge fan of Kolb. His price tag is very high, so I don't know. I mean, if they're coming down on what they want maybe but didn't they originally want 2 first rounders for him?? Uck.

But if we ignore that, he's probably got the best combination of experience and youth/potential of the backups on the market

You all have seen Matt Moore do as much as any of these guys. I suppose the unknown quantity is more appealing--that and Moore's injury.

Still, not a lot of talk about Volek, but his QB rating is pretty high and he would be perfect to get a team through a year, if that is the need.

    • Speaking of false premises, I literally said “his rookie year” in my posts and you are arguing over something said a week ago as if that is what I was referring to. I tried to stop talking to you since you admitted yourself it’s pointless, but you just can’t stop running your mouth and bullshitting for some reason. We get it, you think you’re smart. Let me know when you’ve searched all the threads from 2023. I really don’t care enough to do it, but if you want to call me obtuse and all this stupid poo then you should put your money where your mouth is and prove it instead of just running off at the mouth. I wasn’t in here making anything personal or specific to you or anybody else, the only name I mentioned was MRenshaw who is a clear and known troll, but you seem to have taken it personally, so maybe you’re part of the problem.
    • He is the president of the Huddle TMac fan club so he is a bit oversensitized to something that isn't even remotely offensive in the slightest. I don't really like when people call me by my last name but in various work settings, it happens all the time. I don't get my panties in a bunch over it.
    • This fanbase has called bryce every disrespectful name in the book let alone other people on the huddle. Who cares what you call him as long as it isn’t disrespectful. You act like he’s gonna log in to the huddle and get his feelings hurt.
