Bills Believe Cam Is Their Franchise QB

I've been feeling for awhile that Cam will not make it past #3. The Bills can't smokescreen for sh*t. Every year they make it blatantly obvious who they're going to pick. One of many reasons why their organization is such crap. I don't think they're going to look to trade up for him though, our best bet is with Arizona or Cinci.

If our GM is smart (doubtful) he'll work something out in a trade. I'd like to see something like this.

1) Arizona - Gabbert

2) Denver - Dareus

3) Bills - Cam

4) Cinci - Green

5) Panthers - PP7

Get a 2nd in the process (and maybe a 5th/6th as well) and take Rudolph.

That is all. R&R out.

IF we can pull something like that out of the hat, I think it sets us up better for the long term. I'm just not seeing teams giving up so much to move up in this weak draft. When I say weak, I mean not a strong QB draft, this is one of the better defensive drafts in recent history.

I beg to differ. No one knew they were taking Donte Whitner a few years back. I think Gailey is the one who makes it painfully obvious.

Trade down for their first and second? okay sure.

I'd be fine with that.

Two first, a second, and Ryan Fitz

Don't think they'll trade Fitzpatrick if they want him to be the mentor/stopgap.

I'm confused. If Cam is not good enough for us to pick at #1, then how can he be good enough for the Bills to trade from 3rd overall to 1st overall and give up their 2nd round pick for him? If Cam is as bad as some of you claim, then the Bills would have to be the dumbest franchise in the history of the NFL to do that.

Prior to their being drafted and proving otherwise, people thought Tim Couch, JaMarcus Russell and David Carr were worth #1 picks too.

Maybe Gailey, as widely reported, is enamored with Cam and desperately needs to do something at QB and to put asses in the seats.

One of Gailey's first projects was an another raw, athletic type QB.

I really don't see the Bills taking Cam. Gailey made comments at the combine about how it's not as hard transitioning a guy with little college experience or experience in a spread offense to the NFL... as it is hard to transition a guy who ran an unusual offense. He seemed to be referring to Newton. He talked about how hard it would be to teach him to think differently in an NFL offense.

I don't think Gailey is going to handicap himself with a raw QB like Newton... seeing as this is his 2nd year as head coach and probably only got a 3 or 4 year contract to show that he can turn the franchise around.

Denver probably wants Dareus or Fairly and may be concerned we may take the guy they like the most, so playing the QB card may entice someone to trade with us to bypass Denver, therefor landing them their DT. Or, they could be covering their bases by properly scouting the top talent in the draft like a good team would.

Solid logic

Assuming people that don't want to draft Newton want us to lose games is also very simple minded.

That's being kind.

don't get me wrong, I don't want a QB at #1, but you can't really say that because people were enamored with past busts we shouldn't take QB. The reason you don't go QB here is because of the QBs, not because of the past. A QB is often worth the risk at #1, but Gabbert/Newton/whoever are not IMO.

I would rather we go defense but I'll get behind whoever we draft. I do hope we do not pick Newton but hey, I'll be as loud as anyone else cheering for him if we do.

The Bills don't want Newton at all. They are just putting

that out there so we get all hot for him and pull the trigger

on Newton. They are not tipping their hand this year.

There IS NO QB on the board this year that is worthy of

the lofty pick #1. Especially Newton, do you really think

he should be the number 1 pick?? Luck yeah, but Newton NO WAY.

We should be getting some pro-bowlers on defense. There are some

great ones available to us and to pass them would be stupid.

We shouldn't even watch football until unless Luck is on the field. Screw Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Rivers, Vick, and Big Ben this kid is best QB ever to play the game.
