So here we are, one court ruling away from a lost season.

Chances are good that the appeal will be denied, and free agency and the NFL season will begin sometime in July or as soon as the circuit court rules on the June hearing. If this is the case, there will be time for a full camp and preseason. Great news especially for our young team.

But if the appeal is upheld, and the lockout is allowed, I don't see how there will be a full football season this year, if any at all. The Owners are poised to lockout the players for as long as they need to. The players are not as prepared, but will not cave before the start of the season.

So what happens if there is no camp. No preseason. No practices. What happens if the Panthers are thrown into the season with 3 days to prepare for the first game in a 12 game season?

In short, we are god awful. I mean, we would make last season's team look Superbowl caliber.

- completely new coaching staff/scheme/terminology/philosophy/playbook

- no seasoned veteran QB

In short, we are fugged. Think about going against Tampa Bay, New Orleans, and Atlanta who are all at the very least working within the same schemes and playbooks as seasons past with QB's well versed in those schemes.

I can't stress to you how absolutely god awful we will be. Think carefully on the Panthers worst year, then imagine that team but about half as good.

I know Gross is trying to hold some workouts for the team, does anybody know who has been attending? Also what will they be doing at the workouts? Without Rivera etc..surely they can only go over the basics?

From what I get of the rules. The players can copy playbooks and give them to one another (for anyone who missed out on grabbing theirs.) and they can work out together. Granted there won't be any coaches or anything but as long as the team works out together and most if not all have their playbooks I don't see why the team couldn't learn at least the plays and gist of the new schemes.

So we'll get the #1 pick in the draft again in that likely scenario. Most certainly it will be Andrew Luck. If that happens, do you think we'll keep Cam?

See what the Falcons gave up for Julio Jones? Now triple that....thats what we can get for Andrew Luck if we have the first pick.

Andrew Luck doesn't want to be a Panther. Cam does and IS.

True that. Didn't think about the trade scenarios. Hopefully Cam works out and we'll be the envy of the 2012 draft. But what makes you think Andrew Luck doesn't want to be a Panther?

I disagree with Zod, but I am also assuming that we keep our core free agents (Deangelo, Charles Johnson, Thomas Davis, Kalil) and only lose Richard Marshall to free agency. We will have T. Davis and Otah back from injury, we added Jeremy Shockey, all 3 Rookie WR's from last year have 1 year of experience now (huge), and we added #1 pick Cam Newton to the team.

I understand the argument for coaching staff/scheme/terminology/philosophy/playbook, but I think it will force us to start with the basics and rely on our teams young talent in lieu of intricate playcalling. I don't believe we will compete for the playoffs, but I do believe we are better than the 2-14 team that showed up last year.

Hold San Fran, Buffalo, Arizona, Miami for Ransom.

In all honesty, could be looking at 2-3 first rounders, 2-3 2nd rounders. 2-3 3rd rounders.

      After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem

      You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….

      Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
