he could be feeling better about having to stay here or he could realize that he is more valuable not being a disgruntled player.

if he stays, he's probably going to have to mend some fences with his teammates.

It sounds like he doesn't really know what he wants.

Or, he is trying to hide his real intentions, but that doesn't make much sense.

I think he just wants to win and be a contributing factor to any team's success, whether it's here or otherwise.

I don't know what is going on with his wife but I hope she is okay. I honestly think this could be the most important facet as to whether he goes or stays. Last thing you want to do is move your family if there are health issues going on. Even worse, don't move your family and be gone 24/7.

Smith wants out if he can get out.

Smith also knows the deal has to be right and he got flizucked since he couldn't be traded during the draft. That lowered his odds of being dealt.

If he doesn't get traded this year and I don't think he will, he needs to accept reality. Take your $8 million a year and retire a Panther. Don't go Brett Favre on us - retire with class because the team that drafts always loves you more than other teams (and will put up with more like knocking out two teamates).

said it in another thread tanking last season will hurt a lot more than help i think.

meh. the goal wasn't to tank last season. the goal was to be in a position to make the team significantly better when a new CBA is reached.

last season was just a casualty, but the only real impact it had was putting us in position that we could draft our franchise QB.

the team will have a new coaching staff and lots of roster space and cap room to pick up a lot of talent.

we may lose smith, but we'll still be better off overall...esp. in the long term.

you do realize he was the only one ever on the sideline helping to pump up Clausen on the sideline..

he may not have ever been the perfect role model teammate over the years, but I'll be damned if he wasn't trying to be a great teammate last year.

Agreed Smith plays all out and expects everyone to do the same. He is the Ray Lewis of WRs. I think him and Newton will get along very well TBH.
