Dhani Jones ranks Beason ninth best linebacker in yet another list

seems like fans will whine about anything these days. Players induvidual opinions are unapologetically biased. Plus there are way too many good players in the league to just have a top 10 anything. Maybe quarterback and ST since there isn't a lot of gray area.

People are being so negative, get over it it's summer time. Have some jello.

I got tired of bitching about the Cam, the lockout and JR.

and I don't like Jello.

Except Jello pudding.

Vanilla only.

and must have those small jelly things in it that no ones knows wtf they are.

I feel like most people judge linebacker's on sack's like they do defensive end's, which is truly unfair due to the fact that not ever linebacker plays in a 3-4 defense and sees their stats inflated because they have holes the size of the Grand Canyon to run through to make the sack. I personally think tackles and passes defended are the stats to look at for a linebacker because it shows their ability to stop the run (most of their tackle's come from stopping the run) and passes defended (shows their ability to play the pass).

Here is where Beason ranks among linebackers in those categories since he has been in the NFL.

2007

Tackle's- 3rd

Passes Defended- 19th

2008

Tackle's- 3rd

Passes Defended- 4th

2009

Tackle's- 4th

Passes Defended- 4th

2010

Tackle's- 13th

Passes Defended- 8th

I don't see how this guy is not considered a top 5 linebacker in the NFL, it's just mind boggling.

I think Beason will get more attention once we win some games

I will play devil's advocate here:

Beason was out of position a lot last year due to playing out of his normal position. He got caught up in the wash quite a bit and seemed to get pushed around at times.

Whew, that was hard because I love Beason.

A LB can't help but to be washed around a bit when our Interior D line sucked.

i don't think it's that you don't like jello, it's that you are afraid to show the vunerability that allows jello to bring that joy into your life. I know you've been hurt by imitation gelatin before but just relax and let the jello come into your life again.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
