What about Pike?

What about Pike??? he's not that good, if he was the Panthers wouldnt have signed St. Pierre off the street and have him start one game. Pike isnt that good, Clausen may have stunk, but Pike was beat out by a guy off the street who really hasnt played much at all either. Tony Pike has height, but he doesnt have a great arm, he will get a chance to keep his roster spot, BUT i see him leaving Carolina, Carolina will keep Cam Newton, either Clausen or Moore (the other is gone to a new team to be 2nd string) and they will likely sign a vet. QB like Volek or Delhomme to tutor the young QBs.

I personally think any judgement of last season's QBs-especially the rookies--is premature. They were not prepared because Fox was not concerned about the future. You can compare them to a normal situation if you want to, but we have 3 QBs we know little about. BTW, Moore's last 2 full starts he had 500 yards of passing. He can play.

Not so fast. Pike missed most of OTAs finishing school and was buried 4th on the depth chart in camp. Fox, Davidson, and Scherer were more interested in the moment than the future, so Pike was basically left out to dry. He is probably not that good, but we do not know. Nobody does.

i dont think he's that good, i just never been high on him, i dont know what it is, but i just never liked him, i rather have Pryor on the roster than Pike sadly, now he will have a CHANCE to keep his roster spot, BUT i see him losing it to a vet. and either Moore/Clausen. he MAY be on the practice squad.

Yea, I was high on Pike before last year's draft, hoping we could get him in the 3rd or 4th. Regardless of whether he actually has potential I don't think he'll be on the Panthers roster this year. And for the record, I now think I was wrong about him. In preseason he looked worse than Jimmy, which is all I have to go off of.

Considering John "Lame Duck" Fox put ZERO emphasis on the development of rookies last season, I think you can slap a big fat question mark on every single one of them. None of us have any clue as to what their potential is... including Pike and Clausen.

    • Hornets up 11 after one. 36-25.  Foul trouble brewing though  Diabate has two Miller has three.
    • I think Lane is spot on and I do respect his opinions.    ROUND 1:  Best value:  Edge, Wide Receiver, Cornerback.  I predict overdrafting OT and a run on edge will drop WRs and maybeCB  lower and a great value could land in our lap.  Could we do it again?  In the words of Brittany Spears, “Oops.” Corner?  Well, I think we will move Smith-Wade to FS at some point.  Smart, calls coverages.  Jackson is gone after 2026. . Get a nickel later, however, unless a stud CB falls. Please don’t draft TE here. Edge?  On paper, we are strong, but you can never have enough pass rushers.  We will leave awesome at one position that we may not have listed as a primary need: Edge, CB, or WR. ROUND 2:  Best Value: Linebacker.  I do not see us drafting another position here.  LB–Hill (longshot), Rodgriguez, Golday. Edge (second tier–Height, Jacas, Moore, Young, Howell–would be hard to overlook, but our GM is a former LB)  S A Haulcy is a darkhorse possibility. ROUND 3:  Best Value:  Defensive line. Halton (OK), Jackson (Fl. St), Durant (Penn State).   ROUND 4:  Best Value: Center.  Slaughter, Hecht, Jones, Lew, Coogan, Jones, Zuhn.  This is the only real option.  We should take our center in round 4. ROUND 5:  Best value:  They will be looking for a developmental OT here if not addressed sooner.  Jude Bowery ((BC), D. Crownover (RT-Tex AM), Wagner (RT-Notre Dame) seem promising.      This is the way.  Great summary and I feel its on the right wave length.
