That is true but first you must speak it and then follow up with actions consistent with those words. So far he has done everything right. If he keeps it up and there is no reason to believe he won't, it should be a matter of when it happens not if it happens. It might not be this year but it should be soon.

Clausen is working out every day trying to get better. It doesn't appear that he got the memo saying Newton will be the starter day 1.

Thats a major difference between someone who is good enough at what he does to make millions of dollars compared to booger-eaters in places like the Huddle who would have quit already.

Although Im on board with cam, I would never root against a panther ....even if it is gulp...:jc: While the memories of him pissing his pants in the pocket, throwing multiple pick 6s, and refusing to throw downfield will never fad, I hope he comes in ready to compete. The guy has talent, and that's the problem, he's never really had to work. Worst comes to worst he plays bad and we trade him. Best comes to best, we have two bonofied NFL qb s (assuming cam pans out)

if Clausen is as bad as he was last year in practice (as reported) for Rivera and just as sad in the preseason......I am not sure it will be VERY unlikely. Would be hard to justify him taking up a space on the active roster.

I dont want to throw another rookie qb out there and ruin his development, especially not with this abreviated off season. If the competition is close, start Newton. If Jimmy clearly shows a better grasp of the offense then give him the ball.
