DeAngelo Williams a bad fit for the Panthers

DeAngelo Williams, running back

Ideal Fit: Denver Broncos

John Fox wants to build the offense around a strong running game with a workhorse carrying the load. Since Knowshon Moreno hasn't shown that ability in the past, Fox will cast his eyes toward Williams as his potential feature back. The former Pro Bowler has averaged 5.0 yards per carry throughout his career, and posted two 1,000-yard seasons despite sharing the workload in Carolina. With the bulk of the carries heading in his direction, Williams could lead the Broncos back into contention in the AFC West.

Bad Fit: Carolina Panthers

Williams has already spent most of his career sharing the load in Carolina, and he would rejoin a backfield with two talented runners -- Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson -- in place. This can't be an appealing option for a runner looking to establish himself as one of the top backs in the game.

I agree from his standpoint he should try to establish himself with another team as I feel the younger Stewart is ready to assume the starting role finally. I still hate to see him go.

Dwill would end up in the same situation in Denver as he would here. I doubt they are just going to say "hey Knowshon I know we invested a first rounder on you, but you are bad so we are going to give all of your reps to Deangelo." He would just become their Jstew knowing Fox.

They've said basically that.

I don't agree with this article.

Will we be affected by his leave? Not in the least. Should there have been some type of compensation, aside from compensatory picks? Yes, he should have been traded last year. For something like a 1st or a 2nd round pick.

I agree with you even though I have a good feeling he will still be a panther which is why he wasn't traded and tossed on IR. But honestly I think we would have been very lucky to even get a 3rd for him. RBs just don't have that kind of value anymore.

Give us Denver's next two first round draft picks for him....anything less than that i call :icon_bs:

And if Xanders agreed to that, he should be fired on the spot, except for the fact that he's a GM of a division rival - so that's Executive of the Year material there.

    • Best thread of the offseason. 10/10
    • Yes we are weak at 2C,  I wouldnt say C overall just we have Aho and then 3 guys who should be third Cs.....   If we dont aquire someone I suspect we will finally see Jarvis at center this year.   I see what you mean with Freddie, and I agree to an extent I think we should limit his regular season starts and focus on keeping him healthy for the playoffs.    He has been very good in the post season contrary to what some casuals think we DID not lose because of Freddie....  2.02 GAA and a .907 %  We lost to florida because our small offensive D men couldn't keep the Panthers from parking right in front of him.
    • In theory that would be nice, but i can almost guarantee you no one who will be an upgrade will be available.... much less a "stud"  This is a list of goalies who are free agents in 2026 aka possibly be sold at the deadline..... the only one I see that might help us is a retread in Ned.... (honestly should have never gotten rid of him hes performed admirably in much worse situations since leaving).
