Why I believe in Cam!

I am Hubby

Recommended Posts

I do realize it is darn near impossible to project how a rookie will play. But with the quality of work Cameron has put himself through. I have to believe he is going to be just fine. Check that. Better than fine.

I will readily admit that I was not originally a fan of his, based solely on his off the field exploits. However, as I write this. I have to admit, that he has won me over. You cannot fake the enthusiasm and joy he displays. Nor his leadership, and ability to make others better, (Back to back National Titles)

The physical gifts were obvious. It was the cerebral part that scared us. After the summer spent with IMG, I believe he has shown that he grasps the importance of the mental aspects. IMO, he seems to have proven to be more than capable in that area.

I am not blinded to the fact that even with all his gifts, there is going to be struggles. (But I cite the fact that he works on mistakes until he corrects them. Like repeating plays until he gets it right.) I just choose to believe that Cameron can rise above the challenges. For darn near two years I have watched this kid exceed expectations. Which is why I cannot wait to get the "Cam era" going.

I just have this feeling, deep down in that dark place between dispair and hope. That Cameron is going to continue to exceed expectations for a long long time.

To be ELITE, you absolutely need an ELITE QB.

I'll end this with, GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. To me, Cameron has proven that he is not the same KID he was, that his past mistakes have made him the MAN he is today. I personally, can relate to that.

If you already expect him to be elite then how exactly is he going to exceed expectations?

All I expect from Cameron, is for him to continue to work hard. Anything else is just speculation and hope. Sure I am hopeful that he reaches that elite level, because I want the Panthers to be elite. There are no guarantees. That does not mean I cannot hope.

IMO, he has exceeded expectations as it relates to his detractors. People were downplaying his smarts, work ethic, desire, and even his character. IMO, he has laid those worries to rest. Hence he has exceeded expectations. I guess I should have been more specific.

And GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I saw here that you chose to use the plural.

Outside of buying a hot computer while a student at UF, what other "mistake" are you talking about?

Not sure if I just slipped there, or if I took into account the report that he supposedly cheated on a test. Which by the way, was never proven. I guess my brain was controlling my thoughts. Who knew.

I call him Cameron for two reasons. 1) Because that is his name. 2) It is my way of showing respect for the way he has handled himself since being drafted. As long as he continues to work his butt off, I will continue to call him Cameron.

    • Sometimes its fun to read the threads/posts.  The panthers could literally hire a groundskeeper and we'd have a thread "improving the field for no other reason to prop up Bryce Young".  Apparently no move is ever done to actually make the team better.  All a conspiracy to just focus on Bryce Young. Or suddenly daydreaming and reminiscing about Sam Darnold when he was hated more than Bryce Young.  Its really fun to do a message board search about Darnold during that time period.   Or thinking there is just a tree that grows QB, and you can just easily go up and pluck one.
    • Yeah okay. We as an organization have been more patient with him than many. And there has been a small parade of guys drafted since he was, also to bad teams, that have passed him. Some have lapped him. As a fan I am out of patience but he gets this year it is out of my hands always has been. I just hope the bar is higher than it has been for him.    FWIW, XL dropped two passes last year. He did do some other bad stuff, just saying.
    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
